The goblin-girl blinked and considered that.
"A cat is actually going to chase a dog?" May asked, mouth already twitching. "That's rich."
"Ha ha," Rally said. "And what do you call a goblin working with a cat? Minnie Mouse?"
That was the predominant theory, in Boulder, on the origins of the goblin sub-species, that they were humans that had mutated towards the small size and stealthy nature of mice. They had acquired the name goblins after they had discovered that loud explosions tended to be very good protection and the various tribes of goblins quickly spread and built upon knowledge of explosives between each other. It was a matter of "everybody's afraid of a pyromaniac, and being feared is better than being meat."
"That's just feline jealousy talking," May said jauntily, hmphing.
As for the green skin May had. Well, that kind of small difference occured in every species even human, but was quite a bit more common among the mutations.
"Jealous of you?" Rally asked, hmphing. "That'll be the day. Anyway, this guy's supposed to be a damn good fighter, so keep ready."
