Misato nodded. "Exactly."
"Now, while I don't mind the idea of being able to be with Shinji all that time, isn't there some other, less drastic way?"
"There might be, but this is the best that I can come up with."
"Won't that bring up too many questions?"
"Yeah, but I'm sure that we can find the right excuses. Besides, it's easier this way."
"And how is that?"
"Do you want to be the one explain why you're always coming over here? I mean, Asuka and I live with him, but you don't, and it would be a big problem to explain why one of us is makng out with him at Headquarters."
"That's true," admitted the scientist, "But it isn't going to be easy."
"I didn't say it would be. But we can explain it by telling them it's to 'keep track of the pilots' or 'consolidationg resources'. Something like that."
"Might work..."
"Of course it'll work," said the NERV major.
"You do realize that it would be a tight squeeze in here you know."
"So what? We'll just move to a bigger place, that's all."
Her friend gave her a droll look. "Are you sure that this isn't an attempt just to get you a bigger place?"
"What? No, no. I just..."
A clanking from the kitchen area drew their attention, and they looked over to see what was happening. The refrigerator door was open, and leading out from it was a waving red tail. Their suspisions were confirmed as Asuka straightened up with a jug of milk in one hand, and a glass in the other. She poured herself some, and then put back the container before turning and walking over to the table.
One eyebrow rose as she looked at the sitting pair, but she didn't mention anything. Instead, she gulped down her milk and gave a satisfied sigh as she finished it. "That was good."
Then she put her face in front of Misato's and sniffed before turning and doing the same to Ristuko. Nodding to herself, she murmured, "You both smell like Shinji."
With that said, she turned and made her way to the hall way.
"Wait," said Misato, "Where are you going?"
"To back to bed, to cuddle up to Shinji-chan. What else"
"Okay..."
"You know something though."
"What is that?"
"Neither of you are wearing any clothing."
The two older women looked at each other as the cat girl made her way back down to Shinji's bedroom. Both of them felt chagrined that they had been in such a rush that they had forgotten that. Oddly enough though, walking around in front of Shinji didn't sound too bad.
But it would be a good idea to get dressed. And while they did so,:
