Easy enough to start it up, engage the engines, and then figure out how to get the anchor up.
Part of the dock came with them, but then nobody had figured out that those ropes needed untied until after the wood had started splintering, and then Minako had demonstrated that her anthro-cat form did indeed have functional claws.
The ship itself was fairly large, extremely dirty, and not very well cared for. Smuggler ships had to be abandoned every so often, so this wouldn't have been terribly unexpected.
The smuggling itself was in parts. Parts of various internationally recognized endangered species, the occasional slaves from piracy of other vessels, and the occasional foray into looting and pillaging, but mainly it was going after animal parts for Chinese stewpots. Shark fins, for example, were a delicacy and quite lucrative if you were willing to engage in certain illegal practices.
This did tend to leave the boats rather messy. Smelly. Icky.
Ranma turned a little green at some of the things his pets were doing on the ship.
Usagi likewise had problems with the odors, as she was most definitely not a carnivore and therefore able to handle the smell of carrion. She ended up on the deck, smelling the sea air and trying not to sick up.
Ranma was searching the decks, flanked by Haruka and Ami, looking for any crewmen, supplies, and potential dangers.
Because of these factors, there was a teeny tiny problem that no one had quite figured out.
While the steering wheel had a set of hooks to keep it from going in circles when the former helmsman had fallen asleep, it was currently unmanned and there was no one on board who knew (currently at least) how to pilot a ship.
The ship was going in a straight line. It was just that at the current point the crew had no idea where it was going or even that they were heading full speed towards:
