Ranma had intentionally changed into his female form hoping that no one would think to look for 'Ranma' Saotome as 'Ranko' Saotome having forgotten that Mariko was targetting his girl's body not his male form. Ranma had also changed in the hope that if one of his bodies had to be changed then at least it wouldn't be his real one.
Ranma's second hope had been realized as Ranma-chan became Ranma-darkfire-chan rather than Ranma-kun being changed. This should have made Ranma very happy after a quick hot water dumping over the head.
Instead, Ranma was still in her new 'darkfire' transformed girl's body, but not by choice. It seemed that the transformation overpowered Jusenkyo curses. Meaning that whatever form one was in, when combined with the new transformation template became the 'true' form and other forms of magic no longer had any effect. In desperation, Ranma had used the last remaining packet of instant boy powder only to fall deep into depression when even that had no effect. 'There has to be a cure..' Ranma thought wildly. Ranma could not take what his new fate appeared to be. Ranma did not want to be chased by religious freaks and magical girls for being a demonic beast. Ranma could not even fathom having to spend the rest of her life being drooled over and chased by hormone driven males.
With this last thought, Ranma's mind finally lost its fight into blessed unconsciousness.
