At least he didn't have to watch that wierd video any more.
"And now these are the Van-types," B.C. told him.
"Huh? What's that?"
"It's the Men's combat mecha. You are going to pilot them."
The pigatiled boy snorted. "Why would I?"
B.C. smirked back at him. "Because you have to."
"What are you talking about?"
"Barnette and you managed to take out most of our combat forces."
"Ummm..."
"That means that we need to prepare for attacks from the enemy with only a little strength. And since you helped cause them to be injured, you help to protect them."
"So? I don't need no stupid robot to help me fight nobody."
"And then you will die quickly."
"Eh?!"
"Where do you think are?"
"I kinda figured at some kind of base, or lab..."
"You're on a spaceship."
"A ship? Yer jokin'. Right?"
"No. And the moment that you step outside without a suit, you will die. There is no air out there, and I don't think the cleaning crews would want to deal with the results of explosive decompression. Even with a space suit, you couldn't fight a horde of the enemy's ships coming at you."
"Well..."
"I thought that you really a man, but I must have made a mistake. Stay here. We'll go and see if we can find someone who can fight like a true man instead of acting like a scared boy."
"What?! I AM A MAN! And if takes pilotin' of these hunks a junk ta prove it, then I'll do it!"
"Really? Why?"
"I... I... I don't know. But I guess I owe ya and it is a martial artist' duty ta protect the innocent and the weak."
The second-in-command smirked at the reaction that some of the crew would be at being called weak. "And how much do you know about piloting?"
"That's like makin' it go where you want it and stuff."
"I... see," said B.C., rubbing a suddenly aching temple, "Then your first stop will be to the training simulators." This was going to be strange. But that was also joined by wondering:
