Akane was trying to be Ranma's good girl and pet.
Genma and Soun were trying to get ahead of Ranma and Akane and arrange something else, shoplifting some method of getting those two headstrong stubborn kids together for reasons that were really never adequately explained in the source material.
Why was it such a matter of life-or-death that Ranma marry Akane? Personal honor? From Soun and Genma? How likely was that?
The usual Nerima factors went to work.
Ranma and Akane went into one store just minutes after Soun and Genma entered the annex.
The Unseen University Library Annex B was set up rather like a Barnes & Noble bookstore, including the nice little coffee shop with tables for reading.
The Annex had come about because they'd gotten so many books and such that expansion had been necessary. When expanding the building into n-space, they'd found themselves making a cross-route to this place. Which actually was an old Barnes & Noble bookstore.
As a result of the cross hatching of polydimensional space, they ended up with even more books.
Somehow or other during the negotiations, they'd also signed a ten year lease and helped to construct a nearby highschool. Called Rather Unseen High School (R.U. High being the short form) it was unfortunately not featured in this episode at all. Well, maybe later.
In any case, this was the very place that Soun and Genma found themselves in. Books. Books everywhere you looked. Well, except over there where there were people enjoying various coffee preparations and pastries.
"MMmmmm, donuts," mumbled Genma as he caught sight of the latter.
"Not now Saotome," said Soun, knowing full well the folly of trying to pry Genma away from food after the other had started his "eat everything in sight" binge.
Giving a last eye to the confectionaries beckoning him, Genma set himself to looking over the annex. "That looks like the section!"
Soun followed his friend, noticing the sign read:
