Since Akane had been cursed to turn into a dog, Ranma and Akane were getting along a lot better. Cure Akane and everything went back to normal. So hitting Akane with some other curse seemed a plausible logical way to get them closer.
After fifteen minutes, they had selected books with very interesting titles.
