Makoto shrugged. "Who doesn't like a clown?"
"Clowns on boats in the middle of the ocean?"
"There is that."
For out in the water, there was a pretty short boat, with lights and little different colored triangular flags on all the rigging. It was painted a dark shade of pink and there was all sorts of colorful paraphenalia on its deck. Standing on it were a great many clowns, some big and some small, each of them bearing great big smiles. Circus music played from somewhere.
Unfortunately, the carefree and fun air they would normally have was ruined by a few other factors. Like the look they had in their glowing eyes and the sharp yellow teeth that shown through their grins. Or that all of them had the image one might have if they were viewed through a funhouse mirror.
"Oh great," grumbled Haruka, "Like we can take them seriously."
A large striped inflateable ball came streaking in from the clown ship and turned a crate on the deck into splinters before flying back to the one who had kicked it.
"Oh-kay. Now I'm convinced. They mean business."
"Heehee heehee heehee heehee heehee..," came wafting in on the breeze.
"What did you think that they would be like?" Rei pointed out.
The doggirl snorted. "How was I supposed to know that they were not going to try and seltzer us to death."
One of the clowns smirked deeper and pulled out a giant seltzer bottle, squeezing the trigger. The spray had the force of a high pressure fire hose and sent another crate flying into the air as it disintergrated.
"How about you stop giving them ideas?" suggested the raven-girl.
"Uh... yeah."
"Haha haha haha haha..," went a clown with bright colored diamonds on its jumpsuit as it bounced its way onto the ship. Once its oversized feet landed on the deck near Hotaru, it pulled out a really DAMN big feather, which it used to tickle her with.
"Heh heh heh... stop it! That... hee... tickles!" the feline girl mangaged to get out.
"Haha haha haha haha..."
"I mean it! Stop... it!" she yelled and swung out with a punch to the clown's big red nose. It went flying off the ship and skipped along the water a few times before coming to a stop.
Another clown frowned slightly, and then made to jump and bounce its way over to the stolen smuggler ship, all the while continuing to juggle its knives.
"I don't think so," growled Ranma, and he delivered an uppercut to the jaw of the clown. It bent over backwards from the force of the blow... and then straightened up again, never dropping a blade. "What the heck..."
His opponent just cackled and tossed a knife in his direction that the pigtailed boy dodged. Not waiting for another one to be thrown, he charged the creature and smashed it full on into the middle face. Which resulted in the juggler crashing to the deck and falling overboard.
"Their noses must be their weak spots!" observed Ami.
"You think?" Makoto said dryly as she cracked a pipe over the nose of the clown with the giant ball.
"I do believe that this show will not get better," observed Michiru while she tossed a pully at the nose of the seltzer user.
"Usagi! You might want to get us out of here!" yelled Rei.
"You don't have to tell me twice!" replied the bunny girl as she jerked on the controls of the boat.
Slowly, their ship pulled away from the clown one, while:
