Sailor Pluto watched as Usagi waved goodbye to Cas. The romantic tentacle demon had one of the dimensional gates the defeated sorcerer had used to flee, and wanted to follow his friend, convinced that things would be better on the new world.
Turning from the good-bye's, Pluto summoned her staff. There was still a sense of wrongness that she felt, like a beautiful oil painting replaced with a near perfect acrylic copy. 'Only one place I can be sure.' She thought as she stepped sideways to the time gate.
As always she paused briefly to admire the ancient artifact, before she extended her connection with it and looked into the future.
Pain!
Gasping she stepped back from the gate. Her brief connection had opened her mind to not one but thousands of separate futures, all pouring into her brain like a tsunami. "What happened?" She whispered, looking at the gate.
"What was undone rather." A deep menacing voice stated from behind her.
"Who?" Setsuna asked as she spun, her staff raised defensively.
A few feet away was a man, his body covered with silvery armor, much like a knights. A green cloak was on his back, with the green hood raised over his steel masked face. From the rectangular holes in the mask, his eyes pierced Setsuna.
"I am Doom."
Setsuna stared a moment, thought a moment more, then acted. "Death Scream." With a whisper Setsuna invoked her attack, which blasted forward to spread across the surface of the dome like forcefield surrounding Doom. A moment later the attack faded leaving doom untouched.
"You are very impatient for one of your longevity." Doom commented.
"Who are you, and what are you talking about?" Setsuna demanded uncertainly.
"I am Victor Von Doom. You may address me as Doom, or your majesty if you prefer. And I am talking about you, and this universe. You are familiar with the concept of worldlaws, I presume.
Setsuna blinked. "The. . . We prevented the world laws from changing. . ."
"If you had struck yesterday you would have, however when I agreed to assist his plans, things were completed very quickly."
"What did you do?"
"Undo, Sailor Senshi! In the silver millennium, your one time queen used her powers to twist the laws of reality, infusing the change into the silver crystal to maintain them. Not only did reality favor your Senshi's success and the ascension of the dynasty of Serenity, but the natural balance between the forces of destiny, and chance - was shifted to unnaturally favor destiny."
Setsuna glanced at the Time gates. Turning her head back, she looked him in the eye and said, "That is what happened, but that doesn't explain why you are here. What do you want?"
"The Silver Crystal." Doom stated calmly. "I will give you the time to hand it over to me, before I take it by force."
"You'll never have it!" Setsuna proclaimed angrily, raising her staff to attack again.
Doom calmly looked at her, raised one gauntlet which projected a blast of energy that knocked Setsuna back to bounce off the time gate.
"This time I restrained my armor's full power." He commented as he held up metallic cylinder and pressed a button on it. From the open end shot a crackling sphere of energy, which flew over Setsuna to strike and engulf the Time gates. "I will not destroy this artifact, but neither will I allow you to use it against me." Moving his hand to the wrist of his other gauntlet, Doom opened a flap and pressed the button inside.
"Farewell," he proclaimed to Setsuna as he teleported away.
Pulling herself to her feet with the aid of her staff, Setsuna briefly examined the time gate before stepping sideways into reality once again.
"Are you ok?" Sailor Neptune asked, seeing Pluto's haggard appearance.
"We have trouble." Pluto commented.
