Lemmings migrate move from one place to another in large groups, and are often thought (wrongly) to jump off cliffs together, so groups of people who all do something foolish together without thinking for themselves can be called lemmings.
So the appearance of 10,000 slightly oversized hamsters rushing through the Tendo house and heading for the koi pond might be unexpected and nonsensical, but not entirely without precedent.

The two Saotomes, the four Tendos, all spent a few moments staring at the crowd of lemmings who had mistaken the koi pond for Miami Beach.
"Uhm, so anyway, Ranma's going to be staying over in Azabu Juuban. There's a pediatrician over there who can look him over and see what she can suggest," said the now thoroughly distracted Genma.
"Anyone got some suntan lotion?" "Let me just set my umbrella up here." "Gnarly waves dude!" "We'll put the Ferris wheel in over here, and the roller coaster over there."
"Uh... right," said Soun as the lemming army began constructing a merry go round and surf-generating equipment.
Shampoo smirked. She had complete faith in Ranma being able to overcome this difficulty. If nothing else, she knew of a cure. With Ranma away for a time though, that would be less interference in her plans to seduce Akane and get her revenge!
Ukyo smirked, though a good deal later and listening to an edited tape. Ranma had some illness that had him out of the area for awhile? By the time he got back, she and Akane would be really good friends. Cue maniacal laughter.
Kodachi smirked, listening to another copy of that edited tape. She turned her attention back to her little "gift" for Akane. Soon. Soon Akane would be all hers!
Tatewaki Kuno smirked as he listened to his own copy of that edited tape via Nabiki Enterprises. The sorcerer Saotome gone? That left the pigtailed girl and Akane Tendo!
