It was just an average day in Nerima… This meant Ranma had been glomped, malleted, attacked, and had the baka fathers in his face. Well, it meant at least TWO of these things. Which two depended on the day of the week.
While it was a normal day, it was not going to be a normal night.
It was already not normal by the fact that Ranma had left for no particular reason. He just felt like clearing his head. He was taking careful pains to avoid the Neriman hotspots. Namely, the Nekohanten, Ucchan’s, Furinkan High, the Kunos, the Tendo Dojo.
He would prefer to have also avoided the infamous Vacant Lot, but for some reason you had to go through it to avoid the other hotspots. Fortunately, it was the least dangerous since none of the NWC actually LIVED there. It was, however, the most likely place for some random, insane event to happen.
Because random, insane events were not unusual in Nerima, it was the nature of the event that determined whether it would be classified as usual or unusual.
When Ranma arrived at said lot, he spotted something he initially classified as normal. Two people facing off, ready to fight. One of them a strange-looking man in a trenchcoat, the other a young girl not much older than Ranma was.
But when the trenchcoat-wearing man’s head swelled up and he puked a large ball of energy at the girl… Well, Ranma classified that as NOT normal. Martial artist instincts kicked into high gear and he charged the thing(he had no doubts it was not human by now).
Unfortunately, when he got within punching range, he was right between it and the landing point of the girl, who did not look before grabbing and zapping.
As consciousness left him, Ranma heard only the following: “Birdy… killed a human.”
And then consciousness left him.
