"No problem," a distracted Nabiki called back as she mussed. 'So Ranma has some connection with the yakuza. But what? The way that gangster reacted it must be pretty important. Sheesh, I can't believe Ranma of all people has been leading a double life, but it all makes sense now. I mean, all those years on the road learning to fight and steal from ... Mr. Saotome? Damn! It's so obvious now. Mr. Saotome has gotta be yakuza too. They must be on the lam, just hiding out here while the heat dies down or something. I've got to tell Daddy that his old training partner... Oh, my god! Daddy trained under Happosai with Mr. Saotome! What if...?'
Nabiki hit herself on the head. 'Now I'm just letting my imagination run wild. There's no way Daddy would have any dealings with...' "Eekkks!"
Emi, Koga and several well dressed hoods stood outside the door. "Excuse me, Miss," Koga growled, "we're here to see Mr. Soun Tendo. Miss? Are you alright?"
"D-D-daddy's in the living room!" Nabiki gasped. Trying to recover her frayed nerves she added, "right this way."
'No, Daddy can't be involved in this,' Nabiki panicked in the hall while the yakuza talked to her father. 'It's gotta be some sort of mistake. My family can't be involved... wait. I got myself involved but Tanaka forgave my debt because he thought I was under Ranma's protection or something. Say... This could work out.'
Recovering her poise and courage, Nabiki decided to listen in on the discussion.
"...and so, Mr. Tendo," Emi was saying, "if you can't find a way to meet your debts, your daughters will have to work off your debts with their bodies. ..."
'Oookkkaay. Maybe this isn't so good,' a swooning Nabiki admitted to herself. 'There has to be some way out of this...' "Ranma!"
"Huh!?&nbps; What now?" exclaimed the martial artist coming down the stairs with an expression like a startled deer in the headlights of a truck full of deer hunters.
"No time to explain," gasped the girl latched onto his arm like a limpet. "The yakuza are threatening Daddy. You've got to call them off before he sells us into slavery or something."
"The yak what now?" a very puzzled Ranma exclaimed.
"Just get in there and do something!" Nabiki screamed and pushed him into the room.
"What's the meaning of..." Emi demanded. "Oh my gosh! It's you!?"
"You're interested in Ranma?" Soun grasped deperately. "I'll sell him to you for 15 million yen!!"
"Say what?" Ranma demanded.
"Daddy!" Nabiki exclaimed. "You can get a better price than that! Er, I mean..."
