While Genma and Soun had been preparing the potion, Ranma had managed to convince the old wizard to turn Akane back to her old self. His efforts had been rewarded by insults and physical blows by his 'grateful' fiancee. Everything was back to normal. Once Akane got the humiliation of being turned into a dog out of her system on him, she would return to be the loving girl he knew.
Then the fathers pulled their latest stunt, leading to the creation of the symbiont. When he failed to show signs of admitting his undying love to Akane, Soun and Genma hit the book again.
It was only a question of time until Ranma put his foot in his mouth and earned Akane's wrath. She pulled out her trusty mallet and struck. To the astonishment of everyone, Ranma was unfazed by the blow. The instrument of righteous pervert bashing even broke into pieces from the impact.
This lead to Akane accusing him of having done something with Shampoo to have Cologne give him the breaking point training. The fathers appeared to berate him and punish him for daring learn a new technique behind their back. Ryoga wandered in, heard enough details and attacked, yelling "RANMA ! How dare you steal one of my techniques ! DIE !" Since it was Nerima, the other fiancees and rivals didn't take long to join the latest Ranma pounding.
Except this time, things would not proceed exactly as before.
The symbiont was, in his own way, panicking. It knew it was dependent on Ranma and vice versa for continued existence. Now Ranma, despite his recent enhancements, was taking damage serious enough to be crippling or even lethal in the long run. Its host body seemed to lack survival instinct and let his enemies hurt him without retaliating. It had to do something !
Deciding that taking a more proactive stance in the decision-making process of their combined being, the symbiont stretched and connected itself with Ranma's brain. The silly mental blocks named honor, "Don't hit girls", "Let the girls pond you without doing something", "Do not kill your opponents even if it would be easier like that" or "Fight at your opponent's level to make it more challenging and fun" were replaced by imperatives like Survival and Crush the opposition. It also came out and covered the pig-tailed martial artist's body completely.
The fight came to an halt and the various protagonists stared at the new appearance of Ranma Saotome. The symbiont looked like...
