She probably could have taken advantage of it, but for once she didn't try. She merely shifted forward and laid her head against Tenchi's shoulder and let him hold her quietly as she let, willed, Tenchi's closeness and warmth drive away the old memories.
Ryoko's thin arms wrapped around Tenchi and he tensed for a moment until it was obvious that she wasn't trying any of her normal stunts.
It felt kind of nice, actually, to just be this close to her without any sort of worries. This had only happened, really, once before. That was the time when she appeared on Earth after he'd thought she was dead for months, after the Kagato duel. And soon after that she'd reverted to her normal behavior.
He didn't, avoided, thinking about Ryoko's normal selfish behavior and just concentrated on comforting her. He blinked at the feeling of a bit of moisture against his neck and realized that Ryoko was crying silently as she leaned into him.
"It's fine," he said quietly.

Elsewhere someone else was thinking this was an intolerable situation.
"We must find Lord Tenchi immediately!" Ayeka demanded. "There is no telling what that foul creature may be doing to him!"
"How do you expect us to go about doing that," Kiyone asked, gesturing about towards the snowed over windows of their hotel room.
"Doesn't your ship have scanning equipment?" Ayeka demanded.
"Oneesama," Sasami said. "Shouldn't you calm down?"
"Oh yes!" Mihoshi declared. "Lots. But we can't exactly get to the ship right now." She said the last in a little bit of an embarrassed tone of voice.
"And why not?" Ayeka asked.
"Mihoshi switched the GP earrings for normal ones at the beginning of the trip," Kiyone said bitterly. Everybody turned confused eyes toward Mihoshi.
"What if they got lost out here," Mihoshi said.
"Washu-s...chan," Ayeka snapped. "Certainly there is something you could do."
"I'm already looking, Ayeka," Washu said. "But it's not like knowing where they will mean much."
"Well what CAN you do from here?" Ayeka demanded.
A few moments later, Kappa-Ayeka was much less annoying to everybody else.
