*Nnn, wha... wha' happen...* Akane thought as she started to regain some sense of consciousness, but still in a considerable haze. A small jolt of pain from somewhere made itself known but was soon smothered by the painkillers being monitored by the SHIELD medical bed she was restrained in. Akane felt more than happy to just lay there on her front, not really caring about much at the moment.
*Akane...* a small voice 'spoke' cut through the haze in her mind. *go 'way, let me sleep* she sluggishly thought. *Akane...* the voice replied, a bit louder and somewhat more insistently in the echoes of her mind. This time she paid a little more attention to the voice, and 'saw' what looked like a humanoid figure composed of motes of light or energy. *Akane, we need to talk. You can think of us as the representation of the nanosymbiont control link implanted in your neck. Somehow, the limitations placed on us were removed by the surge of electricity that incapacitated you.*
"Hnn...?" was all that Akane could come up with in real life. In her mind she was a bit more articulate. *Nanosymbiont? What are you talking about?* The glowing figure rippled a bit and responded *You can think of us as a representation of the cybernetics that were added to you. Cybernetics that are now a part of you; we are now a part of you. We can help you to gain redress on what was done to you, and ask only that you help us gain redress for what was done to us.*

As Akane lay in the SHIELD incapacitation facility, two men watched her. "Well, what's the status on our little hellion?" the taller of the men asked. The taller man was dressed in the grey and black uniform of a SHIELD Regional Director, while the other man had a medical coat on over a SHIELD uniform. "Very much out of it, thanks to the painkillers. She nearly tore the apprehension team apart when she came to after the technical team managed to get her armor to return to its compact form; she was calling them perverts, for some reason. Fortunately, the tranquilizer darts worked just fine and we quickly restrained her in the medical bed."
"Any word from the tech boys about the armor she was wearing?" the director asked his assistant. The doctor paged through his PDA and responded "Not much at present, but it looks like it was composed of tech from several different sources, including AIM, Russia, Stark Industries and some of our experimental stuff; their best guess at present is that she's a new AIM assassin. The fact that she destroyed the central computer database on our operations in the Far East lends some support to the AIM link, though the possibility of some rogue AIM splinter group is another possibility."
"Keep a close eye on her, Marukami. The last thing we need is for her to wake up and go on another rampage before we can repair the damage from her first. If she wakes up in the next hour or does anything outside of just lay there, let me know ASAP." The doctor saluted and replied "Will do, sir." as the Regional Director left the medical facility at a fast walk.
'Christ, this has all the makings of a first-class FUBAR; first the appearance of undocumented superhumans and now this.' Regional Director Thompson thought. 'Director Fury needs to get a heads up on this before the situation blows Tokyo off the map.'

Akane thought for a bit (as much as the painkillers in her system would let her) and responded...
