"You're in the Lost Valley Of Shugenja Springs."
Ranma turned around to see a boy a couple years older than her standing at the top of a short flight of stairs. "Who're you? One of those Dark Genie types?"
"Nah," said the boy. "I'm CardCaptor Keiichi."
"What's a CardCaptor?" Ranma asked Mercury.
"A sort of summoning mage, who summons elemental spirits similar in their own way to your genies. I do not sense Darkness from this boy, so I'm guessing that he's used a card to foretell our coming." Mercury directed this towards the newcomer as much as to Ranma.
"That's right!" Keiichi winked. "We didn't see there'd be a girl here, but I heard you needed a healer."
"Yeah, I guess," said Ranma.
Keiichi flipped a card out of one sleeve and held it up.
"Yggdrasil I invoke your might,
Unleash the light! Belldandy!"
Ranma gaped at the girl descending in a swirl of white feathers along a beam of light. Though she immediately stammered an apology at feelings of jealousy from more than one Ring.
"Hello," said Belldandy. "Oh my. That's a terrible curse!"
"You will neither conquer nor control me," Pluto promised the being hiding inside the little girl. "I am made of stauncher material than that."
"You are merely a stepping stone until I gain control of Saturn, then Time and Death will be under my sway," said the possessed Nabiki. "Beryl has Neptune and Uranus. Fiore is fighting that Kuonji girl's spirit and will devour her eventually. Galaxia has her own chosen. As for you, I have tortures in mind that will shatter your mind and leave you my puppet. I can hardly wait to start."
"It won't last," warned Keiichi. "Same as with your genies, it is mortal will and heart that provides the focus for magic. Belldandy is great but she's limited by my age and 'inexperience'. (Though the way Urd uses that word gives me some serious misgivings.) I don't know what'll trigger the change."
"So what kind of cards ya got?" Ranma was curious. The "Summon Angel" card had proven very interesting.
"This one," Keiichi held out the Card that summoned Urd, "is 'Summon Witch' and this one is 'Summon Mechanic'."
Ranma peered at the Card depicting Skuld. "Looks like a real tomboy."
The image on the card stuck her tongue out.
"We're trying to find another Runecard around here," said Keiichi, "the spirit's name is 'Peorth' and she's on the 'Summon Druid' card. There's also some Combat, Element, and Effect cards I need to get ahold of to further boost my spirits' effectiveness."
Ranma nodded, liking this spirit of camaraderie. That someone had been able to restore his youth and masculinity to him certainly made them Good Folks in his book. Even if the guy did seem kinda wimpy. Even if he'd still turn back into a girl - because there had been a partial lifting of the curse it meant he could at least be a guy part-time again.
"Master," Mercury said to Ranma as she approached, blushing for no apparent reason, "we need to go to Kyoto in order to claim Moon. Due to the number of miles and the need to hurry, we will have to teleport again. Saturn has rested enough to do it, or I may, but once we have done so that genie must rest for at least four hours."
"Gotcha," said Ranma with a nod. "You want me to choose who'll do the teleport so the other can help me find Moon. Well, I think:
