He watched in mute fascination as the young woman in front of him worked her culinary magic on the clean food that they had been able to find in the fridge of an empty dining establishment named Emmy's Diner. The atmosphere was far from cozy with blood, guts, broken dishes, glass and all sorts of leftover food in the dining area. But it would work as a place to rest and figure things out. The creatures have apparently moved on to other areas to continue their search for living flesh. For the moment, they could breathe easy.
There were still many questions he wanted answered. How did he get transported to this zombie-infested city (which he had never even heard of) from France? How did that young woman get brought here to this hellhole from her hometown of Nerima? More importantly, how could the two of them get out safely in one piece? Although it seemed strange that he would want to protect someone he barely knew, she radiated the same warmth that his deceased sister used to have. "Here's your snack, Remy-san."
The brooding young man's musings were interrupted when the woman presented him with a plate with a toasted BLT sandwich cut in half on it. "Thank you... Kasumi." Before he could take a bite out of it, his ears picked up some scuffling from behind the barricaded door that linked the kitchen to the dining area. There were no windows that could tell him what was going on outside. He wasn't sure what was going on outside but it was a safe bet that the diner is no longer safe for them to rest in. He took half of his snack and wolfed it down quickly while inching towards the only other door in the kitchen that led to the outside.
There was some more scuffling before Remy's ears heard the noise of limbs being hacked off. Seconds later, he heard some gun shots go off and the sound of corpses hitting the floor. A few more seconds later, there was a knock on the door. "Is there somebody in there?"
'Another survivor?' Remy cautiously moved towards the barricaded door and removed some of the stacked kitchen trays leaning against the door before opening it. In front of him was a man dressed in red and black with a mask. A gun was strapped to his belt and he had a pair of katanas attached to his back.
"Good to see that you're ok... you didn't get bitten, did ya? I mean, if you did, that would suck a lot," rambled the masked man.
Remy shook his head. "No... I'm clean. As is the young woman behind me. Who are you?"
The masked man proceeded to introduce himself. "The name's Deadpool. I can't really answer your questions as I've got a shit load of them myself. But rather than waste time pondering about what the hell's going on, I decided to put it to better use and find survivors. Let's go."
"Where to?" asked Kasumi.
"We'll need to stock up on some supplies. I'm out of ammo and I need to get some more in case I need to fight off more of these... things. Then we'll simply have to make a break out of the city," said Deadpool.
"I suppose that's our best course of action for the moment," murmured Remy. There was something a bit off about the other man but he couldn't put a finger on it. For now, he'll go along with this man. "Lead the way."
'Hmmm... I'll say one thing about this guy. He ain't dumb.' Upon first glance, Deadpool had thought that the male wasn't much of anything. Sporting a black jacket with the omega symbol on it, red pants and long silky bluish-green hair, he looked like someone who belonged in the fashion world. But with the way he kept his distance and the way he carried himself, Deadpool deduced that the male may have some formidable combat ability. That would make getting his dinner a bit harder.
The last human that he had consumed, a stringy weirdo in a pink gi named Dan Hibiki, can last for another hour or two before his thoughts will be clouded by the hunger again. In the meantime, he'll need to lure both the woman and the male to a secluded area. In a way, he had to thank that weird armoured Abyss whacko for yanking him out of his old world. It was a pain having to constantly deal with the hunger and competing with several other zombie super heroes and villains for whatever little food was left on the planet. And he couldn't figure out a way to reconfigure his teleportation device to that other world beyond the 'fourth wall'. There were many walking, talking happy meals there just waiting to be eaten!
He shook his head and mentally told himself to stop focusing on those things and start focusing on his plans to consume the two people trailing behind him. But that was kinda boring so he opted to start chattering away on another topic he found more interesting. "So... you two like the Olsen Twins?"
By the way he casually asked that question, Remy started to wonder if following this guy was a good idea.
