Armada Japan: Where's the army when you need them? [Episode 34329]

by Matrix Dragon

By the standards of nations such as America, it wasn't really a very big military base. Being the closest major JSDF base to Tokyo though, it was well equipped to deal with any threat in the city beyond the abilities of the conventional police (not to mention the more UNconventional crime-fighters in the area.

And so, when the reports came in of giant robots rampaging through the city, the soldiers had instantly sprang into action, intent on carrying out their sworn duties!

Well, that was the plan anyway.

"Every single one?!" Major Hiroshi Gato growled. The Lieutenant simply nodded in reply. "How the hell can every single helicopter be damaged?"

"We're not exactly sure sir," the young man replied. "The actual damage varies. Punctures in the fuel tanks, jammed rotor blade, it varies. It seems minor, but its enough to ground them until we can make repairs."

"Sabotage," Gato said. "They didn't want us to get in their way while they demolish Tokyo." He swore under his breath, considering the various options. "I'm guessing that most of the other vehicles are damaged too."

"Yes sir. We only have a handful operational. Mostly light vehicles, nothing with the firepower needed for something like this.

"Dammit! They're giant robots! How in the hell could they have sneaked in? How could anyone had sneaked in to do this much damage?"

About two miles from the military base, there was a small petrol station. A large motorcycle was parked out the front, and it's rider was inside, watching a small television set. The man was decked out in biking leathers, his face hidden behind a tinted visor.

He watched the television for a moment, watching the duel between Blurr and Thundercracker, then pressed a button on a small panel on his right forearm. Instantly, the room was filled with the sounds of Major Gato's angry voice bellowing out repair orders. The rider chuckled, then pressed a different button. "This is Sideways. The sabotage of the JSDF base has been successful. As you ordered, there have been no casulties in the base. I'll drop out of sight until the next mission. You'll know where to find me." He closed the channel, then walked over to the counter, opened the till and grabbed the money inside. "Pleasure doing business with you," he said to the clerk, out cold on the floor with a nasty bruise on the side of his head.

Whistling to himself, Sideways started up his bike form and rode off into the night.
