Ranma scratched Akane behind one ear and thought back to how this had happened, not watching as Akane's leg began thumping around.

He had such happy, friendly, nice pets. No fiancees though.

Oh yeah, it had come about because:

of a virus released by an eco-terrorist group in the 70s.
of a spell that his old man had found and misinterpreted.
of a wish that had gotten mangled by the two fathers and a malicious genie.
of a misadventure that had occurred when Azusa had stolen this "cute" little magic wand from some sorceress. Naturally it had broken during the adventure.
of an attempt by Adolph Hitler to utilize some magical artifact during WWII.
of something that he had to think about.
