Meanwhile Akane was sniffing the breeze, wondering what was going on and wagging her tail.
Happosai had found and brought to the Tendo home this ancient box. Then he boasted about the power it would give him. Twelve symbols, the Zodiac. Each a spirit of power.
Cologne had shown up, warning about malicious spirits and how only one with a pure heart and innocent soul could wield the Zodiac Box without disaster befalling them. Apparently the Zodiac Box was one of the Amazon Treasures or something.
Genma had asked what it could do. Cologne had answered that one could speak a wish to fix a relationship between two individuals...
And that was as far as she was able to get before all heck broke loose.
The two fathers had gone for it. Kodachi had shown up and gone for it. Shampoo had really gone for it. Mousse had tried to grab it. Happosai had tried to keep it. Azusa had shown up out of nowhere and proclaimed it her little "Alberto" - apparently she'd branched out from the French names. Tatewaki Kuno had proclaimed something or other but other than being pretentious Ranma wasn't sure what he had been going on about.
Nabiki had seen profit in it. Kasumi had fretted about having enough teacups. Akane had wanted to keep it from "those bimbos" and Ukyo had apparently decided to just join in and flatten anyone trying for the thing.
Ranma realized he'd been lucky. He had taken a combined baseball bat (Akane) and spatula (Ukyo) hit to the head and been dazed during the mad scramble.
Several people had fumbled open the box and called out their wishes. His father and Mister Tendo had both been very loud and had yelled different things over the rest of the pack. Things had gotten bad. Very bad.
Instead of fiancees - he had pets. Anthropomorphic pets.
Akane was a dog girl, with a cute little tail and dog ears and cute little fangs. She was loyal and affectionate.
Ranma looked up as Kasumi came up to tell him dinner was ready. That's right, she was also his pet. He didn't have any fiancees. She was his pet:
