So he considered things this way and that before he finally decided on checking with the one person he knew who might have an answer.
Cologne had taken the box, looked it over, and told him she'd have an answer for him tomorrow. She was obviously quite curious about it herself and upon feeling the thrum of power within it, wanted to translate the ancient writings on the back.
"Son-in-law, I thought you wanted to keep this secret," commented Cologne in that dry sarcastic tone she had been known to take.
"That was the idea," grumbled Ranma as Shampoo tried to latch onto him and Akane tried to act like she wasn't interested while P-chan sat in her lap and stuck his tongue out at Ranma while Nabiki advanced the film in her camera and the two fathers tried to get a look at the "valuable" box while Ukyo got ready to use her spatula to keep Shampoo off of Ranma.
Cologne shrugged and brought the box out. "This is a really old box. These scratches made in the lid are in Aramaic - an ancient language practiced by the Israeli before the Babylonian forces overran them and took them as slaves. These scratches here are in a precursor to Egyptian. These that are actually part of the box itself are far more ancient than either culture."
"Wait a minute, I don't know about the Babylonians, but wasn't Egypt around in 4000BC?" Nabiki eyed the box speculatively while she checked shutter speed and lighting. "This box is over 6000 years old?!"
Cologne nodded. "Yes. It predates the Chinese Amazons. It predates Homer's Amazons. The lettering took some time to find, I haven't had a chance to translate them fully - it took most of yesterday and last night just to identify them!"
Soun and Genma were even more interested now. If it was that old it might actually be valuable!
"This," said Cologne, indicating a set of odd letters, "is the language of:"
