.....away from the young man, it wasn't their business anyway and none of them really wanted any trouble.
Ranma didn't even notice them. The lights were such funny little things, so high up and they all blinked to their own little ends.
Blink. Pause. Blink, blink. Long Pause. Blink, blink, blink. And start over.
Though he couldn't read them given how much his vision swam and got blurry he still thought they were funny as they kept blinking. Of course there were the blinking lights that kept flashing in that annoying pattern that wasn't funny and gave him a major headache. Or was that the vodka? No...that couldn't be right cause the Vodka tasted good so how could it give him this fucking headache? Ranma waved the voices silent. Now where was he exactly?
It still looked like Tokyo and everyone was trying their damndest to ignore him as they passed. So he didn't pull a Habiki and end up on a different continent. That sucked, maybe if he......
Looking down the street for the source of the offending noise he saw a sports car driving his way, just some asshole taking a joyride....he had half a mind to track the car and beat the driver to within an inch of his life. Then something caught his attention. Looking he felt the blood drain from his face as the small child walked onto the road while the mother was preoccupied. Leaping into action even before he had consciously registered what was happening he was halfway across the road, the speeding car was only twelve feet away.
The car continued to accelerate as he quickly picked up the little child and threw him toward his mother but by then it was too late for Ranma as well as the driver. With a squeal of poorly serviced brakes the car hit Ranma side on, the front grill crumpling and the hood front denting inward as Ranma collided with it and shallowly bounced off, though not high enough to avoid hitting the windsheild and producing a large spiders web of cracks in the safety glass before bouncing into the air half a dozen feet before impacting the ground rolling for several feet before stopping. But by that time he was no longer conscious.
All of that had taken no more then 5 seconds.
The driver of the car, for once not thinking of impressing the girl in the passenger seat, fearfully looked into the side rearview mirror at the body on the ground. Mistaking the red silk shirt for blood though correctly identifying the limbs that were bent at akward angles. Broken or dislocated he didn't know or care to speculate though what terrified him the most was that the young man wasn't breathing......or moving. Just...just bleeding. Turning his head away from the sight in the mirror he drove off as quickly as he could.
As the car sped off a small crowd had gathered on the sidewalks, earnestly watching the scene in front of them. Among the crowd the mother and her child clung to one another.
A woman broke away from the startled crowd, running to the young man she knelt down by his side and gingerly inspected the damage as best she could before trying to move him. There didn't appear to be any spinal damage though the bleeding gash running along the forehead was some cause for concern as it could be symptomatic of a cuncussion. With great care and not a little trepidation she rolled him onto his back. The fact that he hadn't moved or even moaned in pain showed that he was out cold.
He also wasn't breathing.
