Happosai’s called a demon. He’s called evil. He’s called a number of other things as well, especially by restaurateurs after skipping out on a bill. They have larger vocabularies than the pretty girls. But are those things really true?
Happosai is a pervert. Groping girls, stealing underwear and peeping are his preferred sources of entertainment. Those are facts. His libido would dwarf that of the entire male population of a small village. Maybe even that of a large village. However, while he is quite capable of forcing almost any girl, he doesn’t. Rape isn’t something he does. So call him a perverted dirty old man, but don’t call him evil.
Then there is his soft spot. Children. Especially those who seem to respect him. While his methods might not be the best, he seems to try and care for them. In fact, sometimes I wonder what would have happened if only…
