TO understand lets flash back a bit and shift to the mystical plane of viewing.
Here we see the magic of Jusenkyo, and like many sites of ancient power, over the millennia the valley of the springs had gained a sentience of a sorts. IN a way it was the ultimate voyeur, as it could see through the eyes of its victims. Provided they were in their cursed form. This raised a problem, because at best it could only view the world half the time, and more often than not the show got interrupted somehow as the Jusenkyo cursed individual managed to snag hot water.
Jusenkyo had tried many things, the Phoenix pressure point showed promise, but the knowledge was very hard to come by and that dammed Phoenix pill was used to cure it more often than not. No Pressure points were to unreliable, perhaps magical artifacts? Thus the Locking ladle was created, but than Jusenkyo discovered that the magic of the ladle interrupted its mystic viewing of its victims! It was like looking through a fishbowl at TV with poor reception. Another failure.
So Jusenkyo went back to sulking and its imperfect viewing of its victims, seemed to be cursed to never have a good viewing of the outside world. At least until a certain moron and his son appeared. When the fat man landed nothing special happened, normal panda curse. Than he managed to knock his son into spring of drowned were-cheetah, and then the oddest thing happened.
IN the instant his body hit the pool, the cat spirit trapped in side him awoke. This caught Jusenkyo's attention. As the cat spirit was chained by a lot of energy... perhaps enough energy to make its pool permanent? A solution for his problem! A permanently cursed individual meant Jusenkyo could view the world through the victim's eyes all the time, and since it would be Jusenkyo's own magic that made it permanent there would be no magical interference to the viewing!
A second later the Neko-ken was free from the chains of fear and restraint (Explaining why Ranma is no longer afraid of cats or as afraid anyways) and Jusenkyo had its first permanent spring. Not to mention its first permanent victim.
After Ranma left Jusenkyo decided to let the spring settle a bit before going back to studying it in order to determine how to make more permanent springs.
Then Gothwrain intervened and sealed up the spring. IF he had just filled the spring up with concrete everything would have been fine. It wasn't the first time a spring had been filled up, give it a couple hundred years and the spring would be reformed. OF course it was still annoying so the spring filler was generally cursed with bad luck.
Unfortunately for Gothwrain he knew that springs would reform over time. So he not only filled it with concrete but magically sealed the spring, erasing the template from the spring.
This.... this made Jusenkyo very very ANGRY... In fact it felt akin to if someone had poked out one if its eyes.
It’s a pity that Gothwrain never investigated the spirit of Jusenkyo, he just assumed it was a normal magical site. As it was since it was a spirit of magic it could trace mana flows much more easily. Gothwrain had taken precautions so that mortal wizards couldn't trace his spells, he never considered the possibility of a spell itself tracing him back.
The guide looked out at the pools nervously, he'd never seen them all bubble and froth like that... defiantly a bad omen.
Jusenkyo seethed. This fire mage DARED to strike against it? Dared to hurt it so! Oh he would pay...he would pay indeed. Jusenkyo's water magic will see to that.
----------------------------
In a certain magic spring at Phoenix Mountain, Kiima stormed in carrying the infant Saffron with her.
"What is so important guard to interrupt me...oh my..." Kiima stopped as she stared past the guard as she watched the spring form which Jusenkyo bubble and flow in front of her. Suddenly the water leapt up and an image appeared. First it showed Ranma falling into the spring and the water seemed to rejoice gaining strength as he came out a werecheetah... then the waters turned dark and angry... cutting to a cloaked figure chanting, than a magic spell sealing up the spring from before, cutting back tot he chanting figure who removed his cowl to reveal a old and rattish face laughing manically... Than the vision stopped.
Kiima glared... and then turned to the phoenix wizard who had accompanied her. "You! Gather are Mystics and discover who that spell caster was! He obviously tampered with Jusenkyo, the place we need for our lord saffron's rebirth! We shall teach him the folly of messing with the phoenix!
-----------------
Jusenkyo chortled at this mischief, the one who hurt it would have a new enemy, one much more physical. Still it wasn't enough.... Perhaps it could hurt the insolent fool some more... Glancing back down the magic threads that lead to him, Jusenkyo watched.
-------------------
Gothwrain sneered in triumph, one less problem out of the way. No new werecheetahs would be created THIS time. Still there was that one who had already been created.
"I'll have to take care of him first. The werecheetahs are to much a threat to my power...err I mean the wererat race." He grumbled as he pulled out his crystal ball... "Lets see.. Where is he? Ah! Here he is... what with Brittany diggers as well... wait where's Theo?"
Using his scrying ball Gothwrain determined the two were alone, slowly an evil grin crossed his face. "Perfect... alone and unguarded. Diggers is no were nearby. I can take care of the two of them and the Werecheetah race will be no more!" He cackled madly as he turned to a small case of magic items. He had the perfect tool, a long range were-creature assassin spell. The problem was it was in a one shot magical item. He couldn't afford to use it with Diggers around, who might be able to deflect it. But with the two were cats alone....
-----------
If it were able to Jusenkyo would have grinned. So the insect's greatest desire was to eliminate the were-cheetahs, one of which was a Jusenkyo's own 'child' so to speak. Gothwrain foiled Jusenkyo's own desire to view the world, its only fair that Jusenkyo foils his greatest desire as well right?
With a flex of mystical muscle the valley reached out and tapped the Jusenkyo magic that was Ranma's body (Ranma was a bit to 'busy' at the time to notice with more.. pleasurable pursuits). A little twist here and there... and viola! A personal aura that would warp any fire mage's spells away form him and those he was close to, incidentally ruining any sort of magic Gothwrain tried to use upon him.
A seconds thought made Ranma extremely fertile as well... Gothwrain wanted to destroy the were-cheetah race? Well let’s see how he handles its repopulation.
The guide and a hastily summoned Prince Herb both blinked at the bubbling pools, especially as it sounded like... maniacal laughter?
----------------
Gothwrain smirked as he held the device. He could only use it once, but once would be all he needed. This item would magically create Silver inside the bodies of its victims, killing any were-beast its magic touched
"And now Were-cheetah's......YOU DIE!!!" Gothwrain cackled as he channeled his power into the device. The artifact crumbling to powder even as he turned to watch the spell shoot through his crystal ball, out into the air over the pond. Down towards the cuddling couple and finally to... be deflecting away from the werecheetahs into the river???!!!
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Gothwrain screamed... what could have gone wrong? HE could never use that spell again!
---------------------
Jusenkyo smirked and made a mental note to send a copy of that magical recording to Bast, she'd.. appreciate it. Chuckling Jusenkyo turned its attention back to Ranma, viewing the world and Theo's demon head through his eyes.
*SPLASH!* Oh to bad he got doused with spring of drowned.....
