What was being shown on the television set was evidence in the minds of those who did not know of Pantyhose Tarou, what exactly was responsible for the current problem. People degenerating into lust-driven sex-fiends + tentacle monster killing some young girl and menacing innocent shoppers? Effect and cause, case closed.
TV crews caught the police trying to arrest the two. The short one (some sort of evil gnome of some kind) threw explosives at the police. The big tentacle monster/minotaur smashed up patrol cars, raged, and killed four children and their mother. That he had been throwing a police car and not paying attention to where he was throwing it was not immediately apparent.
It got worse when one of the police officers suffered the normal effects of a non-martial artist being impaled on a street sign.
Much like the ancient yeti and pre-domestication bulls of the period that fell into the spring, Tarou Sai was raging. Happosai had never been a big believer in laws.
As the two fought their way from the store, accompanied by the wail of those who'd been overcome by the violence, they gave no thought to the potential consequences of these acts.
Even as Nabiki, Kasumi, and Akane - sated from their earlier experiences - gathered in front of the television to watch the reputation of the Anything Goes School drop into the Abyss (or it would when the connection was discovered).
Miyo, Natsume and Kurumi, Azusa Shiratori, Rouge, Shampoo, Ukyo, Kodachi, Miss Hinako - all were riveted by the scene of horror and found something to blame!
The evil monsters were to blame! It wasn't Ranma's fault (for once).
IT WAS ALL HAPPOSAI'S FAULT!
It fit the facts, it fit the conclusions given by the press, it fit the spread of the disease, it gave everyone a target for their blame. That it wasn't correct was not important.
An EMT looks her over. "Yes you are. Be stone cold dead in a moment."
