"Is that better?" the shopkeeper asked, with a slight smile.
For a moment, she stared at him, confused as to what he meant. Something needled the back of her mind, telling her that something was off kilter, but she couldn't figure out what it was, and it faded quickly. "Yeah, I guess."
"That's good. Is it fitting better than what you were just wearing?"
After a moment's thought, the redhead gave a selfconscious laugh. "Oh that. I don't know what you meant, telling me that trying on something new would change things, but they were comfortable clothes any way."
"Then your choice was good then. Let me just package them and you can be on your way."
"I still feel a bit odd just taking them."
"Don't worry. It is the least that I could do for all the hassle that I have caused you."
"It's no problem, really."
"Don't worry, it's not like I'll go broke from this, and besides it's nice to do something for a pretty girl like you," the shopkeeper told her, as he tied up her package. "Here you go."
She took it with a smile. "Thank you very much."
"You're welcome my dear. Now hurry along, I don't want to make you late to where ever you have to go."
"I'm still a little erly, but thanks for the concern," Ranma told him as she headed for the old style door. Pushing it open, she stepped from the older world that the shop was decorated in, and into the Tokyo of the twenty-third century. She stopped as she stepped onto the sidewalk and watched the traffic of vechicles and pedestrians go by. It was truly a sight to behold, even for one born there like herself.
But then again, she had places to go and people to see. That meant that she had to get going, but she wanted to make sure that she had not forgotten something. She had her uniform on, the skirt not sticking on anything, her hose didn't have a run and her boots were nicely shined. Though she couldn't wait until Command decided to have the same uniform for both men and women again.
Which was to be in the future however, and she had to deal with now. A simple check showed that she had the package from the shop, and that she hadn't forgotten her:
