She just hoped that it would not happen to her this time.
An hour later, those walking the halls of Starfleet Command saw the redhead rushing across the floor, heading towards the offices that housed the commanding officers of the Security section of the fleet. Many a male eye, and a few female eyes followed her progress, but she was in too much of a rush to give them her typical glare. Due to certain problems that she had run into, she had been delayed to the point that she had been heading to early until the situation had made her later than she had expected. And in an attempt to keep herself from missing the scheduled time of her meeting, she was trying to break the record for the Academy marathon.
Then she saw her boss' office nearby, and hurried a little faster, planning on stopping to collect herself before entering. Which might have worked... had she not collided with the man who had just stepped up to the door.
They both landed on their bottoms, but as he had not run across half of the Command building, he was back up on his feet while she took a bit to recover and glare up at him. He just stood up and smiled back at her, which made her scowl in return.
"Hey, nice hit there," he drawled, "It's not every day that I get knocked off my feet by a pretty lady."
"Well isn't that nice for you," she replied.
"Oooh. And she a spitfire as well. I like that in a woman."
"You do, huh? Then let's see how you like it when I kick your ass."
The man shrugged and held out a hand. "Who knows? I might like it a lot."
Looking at the offered hand, and then at the offerer, Ranma snorted. "Sorry, but you've got to live your fantasies elsewhere buddy."
"Well that's definately going to be a problem, but as much as I do appreciate the view of you sitting there, don't you think that you should get up now?"
"I can get up, by myself, thank you."
"But my mother told me never to leave a lady in distress."
"Your mother must have been nicer than you," Ranma told him flatly, but took his hand any way. Pulling herself up, she bent over to brush her skirt off with her free hand, and then twisted around to make sure that she could do the same to her back.
Give a low whistle, the man smirked. "I don't know what I like better, the front or the back."
"How 'bout neither?" growled Ranma as she snapped to attention so that she could glare at him.
"Nah..."
"You mind?"
"What?"
"My hand."
"Oh this?" he said smiling, and placed a kiss against her knuckles before letting the hand go.
Rubbing her kissed hand, she nodded at the space behind herself. "Don't you have someplace to go now?"
"Actually I do."
"So, why don't you go?"
"Because it's right here."
"You're here to see Commodore Aramaki too?"
"Yup."
"Someone hates me," she moaned, hanging her head.
"If this is someone hating you, I'd love to see what would happen if they liked you," he said, and ushered her through the doorway as it slid open.
"Ahh, I see that the two of you met," Commodore Aramaki, small, white haired man, said as he watched them enter.
"I haven't met this..," snarled Ranma.
Chuckling, the unnamed man interrupted her. "What she means is that we just came across each other in the hallway."
"Is that so?" Aramaki said with a raised brow.
"Yes Sir. You might even say that we... bumped into each other."
That earned him another glare from Ranma while Aramaki shook his head. "Well then," the commodore said as he gestured them towards seats, "I suppose that I'll make the introductions then."
"Well, Lieutenant Ranma Saotome, meet Ryoji Kaji, from Starfleet Intelligence. Commander Kaji, I'd like you to meet one of my best security agents, Lieutenant Saotome. And I'd like both of you to meet a civilian contractor who's been hired by the other part of this situation, Ryo... Mister Saeba, what are you doing?" "Eh?" went the man in the civilian clothing, who was currently leering at Ranma's clevage and was leaning towards her.
"Eyes up, pervert!" she barked, and swatted him on the head.
"Heh heh. Sorry," said Saeba as he straightened out, but still kept on glancing at the sole woman in the room.
Aramaki cleared his throat and looked over each of the people in the room. "I asked you all to come here because we have a job to do and we need to figure out how to do it before we begin. At this point, I have no wish or need to send in the special operations teams, and I want to keep it that way. There can be no chances taken with:
