"Chaos Words," Lina replied. "I pit my will against reality and use unnatural law or magic to change the world. Some spells I know call upon Gods and Dark Lords to work."
"Dark Lords?" Rastlin asked. "What are Dark Lords?"
Lina shrugged. "Dark Lords are some times called Demon Lords or Evil Gods. Since I'm in another world, my Black Magic spells and any Holy Spells I know are completely useless."
Rastlin and Goldmoon stared at Lina.
"Are you a priestess?" Goldmoon asked. "How can you use spells of other deities, if you are?"
Lina launched into a quick explanation of how her world's magic and Parthenon was set up. Gilthanis, Rastlin, Fizban, and Goldmoon were the most interested in that. While that was going on, Gourry walked up to Sturm.
"She's going to be at it for a while," Gourry said. "By the way, I'm Gourry Gabriev."
"Sturm Brightblade. Did she make that sword for you?" Sturm asked, with heavy suspicion in his voice.
"No. The sword has been in my family for generations. It has a lot of history behind it and honor that goes with it. Maybe too much," Gourry replied.
Sturm's face cleared when he heard that. Gourry saw that the statue that held his sword blade had turned to dust. He quickly went over and reattached the blade to the hilt. He gave a few experimental swings and nodded to himself.
"Why did you do that?" Sturm asked.
"I only break out the Sword of Light when I need it. I do my best to get by on skill alone," Gourry said, as he resheathed the sword.
Gourry gave a glance at Lina. "I think we had better find another place to allow Lina to talk. We need someplace where she can talk for about three hours without interruptions. Lina?"
"What is it Gourry?" Lina asked, a bit irritated.
"Shouldn't we find shelter in case that frog-man comes back with reinforcements?"
Lina nodded. "Right. Any ideas on where to go and what is the local currency?"
Tanis was taken back by the latter half of that question. "That is an odd thing coming from a mage."
"I'm the daughter of a merchant. Knowing money is in my blood."
Tanis told her of the exchange rates and Lina wrinkled her nose in disgust when she heard that gold was worthless.
"At any rate, I have to agree with your friend, this is not a safe place to keep talking," Tanis said.
Gilthanis approached Tanis. "We should head into Qualinesti. I'm sure Father would like to speak to this girl and the person who cast healing magic."
Tanis sighed. "I can't make decisions for those two. If they want to come, they can. If they don't, then I'm not going to force them. As to my group, we'll go, if only to get help for Theros."
Tanis wave at a man who had one arm, and was being supported by two people. One was a tall woman with gold hair. The other was a bare chested warrior. Lina shrugged.
"Look. Tanis was it? Right now Gourry and I are stuck in your world. I need to figure out how to get back our world. We'll go with you, until we find a way to get home," Lina said.
The group walked along into the forest. As they walked, questions were asked and answered about the differences between the two worlds. All of a sudden, Lina's hand snapped down and she pulled Tasselhoff up to her eye level.
"Do not try robbing from me little thief," Lina said, glaring into Tas's eyes. "In my world I am called the Bandit Slayer. I have killed several bandit gangs in a short period of time."
Lina tossed Tas to the ground and kept glaring at him. Tanis quickly gave an explanation about Kender and how they don't mean to steal, they just do. Lina kept the glare up and Tasslehoff Burfoot started shivering. Satisfied, Lina nodded.
"That takes care of that," Lina said.
"You scared a Kender. How? Kender are supposed to be fearless," Rastlin said.
Gourry piped up. "That probably comes from being the Dra-Mata. A girl so nasty even dragons run in terror from their lives from."
"Gourry! You jellyfish brain!" Lina shouted, and balled her fist.
She snarled in disgust and muttered, "That nickname is so embarrassing."
The Companions looked at each other and grimaced. Tanis waved Rastlin over and the two of them held a whispered conversation. Too bad for them, they didn't know of Lina's sharp hearing.
"What are we dealing with here?" Tanis whispered.
"I don't know. She might be a key in stopping this war. Her companion Gourry is not that bright, but I doubt that anyone could trick him. There is something else you should know."
"Oh?"
"Remember what I told you about my eyes and how they see everything dying?"
"Yes."
"Well, she flickers. Sometimes, she looks like other humans and dying rapidly in my sight. At others..."
"At others?"
"She looks like an animate golden statue that ignores time. That plus the way she scared Tas has me a little nervous."
Lina bit her lower lip and thought, "I really don't want to think about what the Lord of Nightmares did to me."
The group soon reached Qualinesti and they waited for an audience with the Speaker of the Sun.
