Red Rover/Time's Over: Visit Scenic Crystal Tokyo [Episode 37537]

by Kestral

"So what do you think, Tendo?" Genma asked his friend. "This is the future?"

"I have no idea, Saotome." Soun responded as they observed the area around them. "Once we find the dojo we can find out how we got those two kids together."

It was chilly, but every person they saw was wearing vaguely Greek looking clothing that left the arms bare.

As for their dojo, they could find no sign.

"Uhm, excuse me?" Genma finally asked of one of the passerby.

"Yes, friend?" The individual stopped to look over Genma, never losing that sort of vaguely-not-altogether-there smile. "How can this one be of assistance?"

"Uhm, where are we?" Soun asked, flinching a little as that smiling face turned towards him in response.

"Why, you're in Crystal Tokyo, friend," said the vaguely androgynous person they'd stopped.

"And, uhm, where is Crystal Tokyo?" Soun asked.

"Right on the ruins of the old city of Tokyo, friend," said the citizen. "As it has been since the Queen purified all the evil from the world."

"Did you hear that, Saotome?" Soun began weeping in happiness. "Someone got rid of the Master!"

Genma was a little nervous. "What exactly do you mean by 'evil'?"

"Why all those old bad things were purged from us," said the citizen, the smile never budging. "All hate, pride, anger, greed, lust, envy, and gluttony. They were eliminated from the world so that she could lead us into our current paradise."

"Uh huh," said Genma, looking around at the crystalline pillars. "What about martial arts?"

"There is no need for such, friend. The Senshi protect us all. The Senshi and the Queen provide for everything." The citizen nodded at the two. "Good day, friend."

Soun and Genma watched the guy(?) wander off and noticed the same glazed look and vapid smile on each and every person wandering the streets in their slow measured steps. Why hurry in paradise, after all?

"This is the future?" Soun asked. "How can this be?"

"Nobody looks particularly male," observed Genma. "Nobody looks like a fighter."

"Of course not, friend, male is evil. Male is untrustworthy." A vaguely androgynous citizen stopped before them, though this one looked slightly more feminine. "It isn't fair for some to be born inferior and prone to sin. Therefore all are female save the Prince. Masculinity is evil and limiting, therefore it too was purged. Fighting is cruel, the impulse to harm others has been removed as well. To cause anyone pain is wrong. Such things were removed by the Queen. Truly the Queen is wise and generous." (AN-based on the conversation between Minako and the Starlights near the Galaxia confrontation and prevailing opinion on alt.fan.sailor-moon.)

"Uh, yeah," said Genma, really beginning to get creeped out as the citizen walked on.

"Saotome," warned Soun, jerking his head slightly at a gathering crowd.

"That smile is seriously beginning to get on my nerves," quipped Genma.

"You are different," said a child. "Different is bad. Different breeds discontent. Discontent breeds anger. Anger leads to murder. Murder is evil. You must be purged of that which is different."

"Oh, well, I..." Genma stopped and pointed in shock. "Oh my goodness! It's Humvee and the Blown Fish!"

The crowd blinked and slowly turned to see what the Serenity the portly male was talking about.

Zip! Zoom! Zing!

Years of practice under the Master came to the fore as the Dynamic Duo ran away!

After a refreshing 500 yard sprint, and hiding in the attic of a perfect house with a perfect yard (and as everyone was so perfect there was no reason to lock the upstairs window was there?) the two caught their breath.

"How many years in the future are we?" Soun asked when he could breathe again.

Genma moved carefully about and checked out the stacks of things."The last calendar here in the stack is 2003."

"Eleven years?!" Soun gasped. "Not much of a retirement. Of course they may have just stopped making calenders at that point."

Genma continued to poke around as quietly as he could.
