She knew some things about strategy, to be sure, but her master had far better ideas. Lord Claudius had likened her situation to that of a human body and AIDS. Normally, an isolated infection in one area was just as likely as not to be destroyed by white blood cells - the body’s guardians against outside invaders. With AIDS, however, the infection targeted the white blood cells, and used the body’s own strength against itself until it was overrun with invaders.

She pressed a button on her cel phone, and put it to her ear. “Hello. Is Shan Pu. Is time to... how you say it? Ah, yes. Is time to party.”
She waited for about 10-15 seconds to take one last sip, then willed herself into hybrid form. She’d heard words about ‘bulls’ and ‘bears’ as the people walked by; she wondered how they would deal with cats...

The Pink Avenger was not a morning person.
Few superheroes are. It’s in their nature; they patrol the night, fighting crime amongst the shadows. The hours they sleep are those when everyone normal gets up to go to work.
Needless to say, when the incessant beeping of her comm pulled her from slumber, she wasn’t happy.
“H’lo?”
“Danni, you’d better wake up - and fast.” Barbara’s voice on the other end held nothing but panic. “The werecats...”
“What about ‘em?” she groaned. “Can’t the SWAT team handle 'em?”
“Danni...” Barbara’s voice turned wraithlike. “The SWAT team ARE werecats! Apparently all of New York’s Finest are letting the fur fly!”
Danni sat up instantly; she was fully awake now. “What?”
“A couple of colleagues told me all about it before we locked ourselves in here. The police officers... they just changed and started attacking everyone! There are thousands of werecats now, Danni - tens of thousands!” The fear in her voice was painfully evident. “What are we going to do?”
Danielle sighed. “We can’t take them on, Barb. We either have to wait for reinforcements, or...” She didn’t finish the sentence. “Just hold out in there, Barbara. Cheetah and the others will be here soon enough.”
A tiny voice came back in reply. “I hope so...”
