Furry Senshi: The Fifth Freedom [Episode 39143]

by Raven

In Washington D.C, President Jack Ryan was facing the hardest decision of his life. He had just leared from the Joint Chiefs of Staff about the current crisis in New York, and with it the request to fully moblize to prevent this threat from spreading any further. The reasoning was sound as anything, but this was using military force on an American city with American citizens, be them human or lycranthrope.

"Sir, we've already run the projections. If we launched a bombing strike now, we could elimate the hostile foces with minimial..." The Air Force head started before the President loudly cut him off.

"No! Abosolutly not. I will not authroize the bombing of an American city, much less New York. What other options do we have?" The stress was already beginning to show on the president's face from this fiasco. About an hour ago, he had just received both the Israli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Yasser Arafat, learning then that Israel had fallen under the were's controll, with elements of the Israli Army and the PLO buying the remaing population of uninfected people in Jersuleum, both Arab and Israli, enough time to escape. This intensified the threat the weres posed on the world now with not only the defeat of one of the more well supplied armed forces in the world, but also with their controll of Israel's nuclear arsenal in a position to threaten the major oil producing countries of the Middle East, restricing supply access to the world.

"Mr. President, we alreay know from what happened in Israel some of the weaknesses and are already outfitting our ground forces with appropriate countermeasures. The 17th infantry division is ready to proceed into New York on your order." Lassader, the Army JC said as he presented a file for the proposed opperation. "Our intent is to try and quarantine the city, nothing goes in or out besides arial supply drops, along with attempting to take down the leader by any means necessary."

"You don't mean..."

"Yes sir, I am requesting that you give premission for Fifth Freedom authrorization along with possibably putting New York under martial law." he replyed, not stemming his words in any way. "Sir, we have to do this hard, or we may run the risk of being completly overrunn. With the way this is spreding, even the best case scenario puts them over the Patomic and on the South Lawn by the end of the month."

President Ryan only sighed as he buried his face in his hands, knowing the general was right. Again, he wished that he was still in his old job as DDIC of the Central Intellegence Agency so he wouldn't have to face this decision, but he knew he couldn't run from this.

"Authorzation given." he quietly said, competely resigned to this as Lassader waked over to the Oval Office's sat-phone and dialed up the 17th's commander.

"This is Lassader, Operation Kennel is officially a go. Inform your men that the Fifth Freedom is now applicipable on all suspected controlled weres. I repeat, Fifth Freedom on all possible hostiles"

'May our childeren forgive us.' the President quietly thought.

Author's Note: Yes, this is the same Jack Ryan from the Tom Clancy series. I just felt that it would be less contraversal to have him than get drawn into a pro-Bush/anti-Bush debate. Besides, for everyone worry that there are too many crossovers right now, just consider this a camio apperance. For those who haven't played Splinter Cell, The Fifth Freedom is an order that authorizes a person to whatever tactics deemed necessary, including those that are considered to be illegal and terrorist methods, to resolve a situation. However, this does not give free reign to troops for they still have to face any conquencenes of their actions.
