Much blinking. Nobody had really quite expected it.
"You can?!" Akane-in-Kasumi asked.
"Yes, this was set up to see if you could all get along, and once you get along you'll be restored," said Cologne. She served tables 4 and 5 while they digested that.
"Since that won't happen," began the current Nabiki, "got any other alternatives?"
"Well, I'd hoped this was a prank, but since it isn't," Cologne said and held a contract up in the air. "This was delivered by courier fifteen minutes ago. The patron deities of the Nichieju tribe and founding ancestors have signed it. I am to be the Arbitrator in this lesson. Clearly, due to the references on page 7, this takes precedence over Shampoo's involvement, and I am to show her no preference in this matter."
"Yes! The bimbo is out of the running," said Akane. "Oh. Did I say that aloud?"
"If you were allowed to continue, each of you would switch bodies every 24 hours until you'd all 'walked a mile' in each others shoes and learned to get along. If I as Arbitrator determine that this is not occurring, I can request the magic choose a different manner of achieving that end."
"Yayyyy!" Girls started bouncing and cheering. Kodachi wagged her tail.
"However."
The party stopped.
"The magic will choose how to manifest and I have no say in how it manifests," added Cologne. "Well, since it is a request from individuals that I respect. I will choose the role of Arbitrator and I accept these conditions."
Everyone gasped as a glow swept over Cologne. When it was done:
"Aiyah." "Oh my." "Urf?"
Beautiful, tall, and strong, restored in age to just over twenty years, Cologne smiled at the girls. "Now. Do you want me to declare that the bodyswap is not going to work and for you to face whatever fate has in store?"
There was a brief discussion among the girls (and dog) that ended with:
