At any rate, Lydia was carefully skittering from cover to cover, skeleton to skeleton, looking for a way out of this obvious death trap. She froze briefly as she heard motion and then calmed down as a small white mouse skittered into view.
"Whew, that's a load off my mind," Lydia thought. "Whatever frigging monster is here usually is probably sleeping or something." She paused. "Or maybe all these guys just died of starvation."
Looking around at the skeletons, especially those whose bones had been fused into one mass, she decided that was unlikely. She shivered briefly and looked around.
"Hey, mouse," she chittered in the rodent tongue. "Which way out of here?"
The mouse looked at her with a distinctly odd look for a normal mouse and then shrugged, pointing with one small paw towards a wall Lydia could just barely see ahead of her.
"Thanks," she said, saluting it with her own paws and skittering away.
The mouse shrugged, considering the appearance of another rodent unimportant to its long imprisonment. Well, going by the rat's accent it was probably foreign, maybe a pet. If so, it might at least bring some entertainment in the form of whoever its master was.
The daemon mouse shrugged and continued paddling through its lair.
