Setsuna's Fault: Darkness Angel [Episode 40272]

by Kestral

Ranma had run into a yoma and not a particularly powerful one. He had gone into it convinced he was a supreme martial artist and that there wasn't anything he couldn't handle.

He had been sure that 'Ranma Saotome doesn't lose.'

He'd been wrong. He had fought the taffy-monster and it had taken his best shot and then some.

"So, this is the first of the sheep to actually fight back?" asked Beryl, studying the bound form.

"He was pretty pathetic," said Jadite. "Yet we were able to recover a fair amount of energy from him."

Beryl looked at the withered figure of the youth. "Still fighting, though his life hangs by a single spark. Throw him into the pit. Let him be our first sacrifice to Great Metal'la. She should relish such a fighting spirit."

"As you command," said Jedite.

Sailor Moon had finished off Beryl. Expunged Metal'la. In the cold and hostile environment, no one was there to see a figure crawl from the pit that Metal'la had been slumbering in.

Beryl had rent him asunder. Metal'la had tried to extinguish him. He had fought long after his loss had become a foregone conclusion.

He was mad. He was tainted by the darkness. He was corrupted by the shreds of power he pulled into himself to heal his broken body. One thing more.

He HATED. He hated the Darkness which had spawned him. He hated the humanity which would not have lifted a finger. He hated the light which had forsaken him, unknowingly but that didn't matter to him.

He gathered the traceries of power left behind, finding eventually a crystalline coffin with a withered husk. His hand shattered the coffin, drawing its power into himself - then the occupant died a final true death as HIS power was drawn into the boy.

A one-winged dark angel who desired the destruction of all, the remains of a proud boy who had once had a kind heart now filled with dark madness.

Ranma smiled a cruel and mocking smile as he considered how best to accomplish his task.
