Even without the cloying pity of the ones that knew directly, Japan was just too nice to him, he felt it was unearned, he needed to make his own mark. Searching and learning, never really staying, and slowly becoming known as a wanderer, a warrior, a man adrift.
Ranma could deal with that, at least it was his life and rep, not the leftover pains of a life he shouldn't have had in the first place ruining his chance at HIS time and HIS way.
Women never did mean much to him, he could DO, but he never warmed to the doing, with anyone. So he didn't.
Men never did appeal, so he didn;t even think to try.
Now, here he is, and it just figured that the one profession, the one activitry his father hated most (they'd have taken Ranma from him) is the one that gives him the companions and challenges he needs.
High-level Fighter Tourneys.
Ranma was as far above pit-fighting nonsense as Cologne was above a knitting circle, so they never were real to him, save as a introduction to the REAL battles, a way in.
And it all feels so alive! the Battle, the Focus.. and now to dodge this attack, from his dear pal and ally/rival..
