Some were exactly what you would expect from the deity/power/spirit in question.
Bastet liked the werecat angle, or various alterations of the whole 'Catfist' concept - so naturally that's what she'd gone with. Except in this case she'd borrowed a page from a Naruto-verse and found a great big dark force of destruction that was fairly feline and gave Genma a way of sealing it within his infant son as a powerup.
Pan wanted to explore the man-among-men angle, while Tom Bombadil was suggesting spiritual training, Ares was being nice for once and merely wanted Ranma to become a master of all weapons, Hephaestus wanted to fix Ranma up with a robot maid catgirl, and Kitchiri was bringing by some of those really odd brownies and making suggestions that made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Timelines separated all the time. Usually it was a tiny little thing, going left instead of right at an intersection. The timeline linked up with other minor variants, then recombined in a very short amount of time. Someone looking for their car keys can't find them, then when they DO turn up - it was in the first place they looked. That sort of thing was usually the only indicator that a timeline had seperated and then recombined.
Major junctures were more rare, but those bounced in and back out with even less noticable. The differences simply merged out, or if they were too incompatible - seperated out again without so much as a ripple. Except that sometimes little details were altered.
By shifting retrograde (in the process of recombining) minor timelines, one merely caused another timeline (one with the alteration, another without) to pop into place.
That occurred, Toltiir watching with some interest as the change involved the Tendo family. That family now being significantly different, with only the father Soun Tendo remaining recognizable.
Now, on a rainy day in March, Soun Tendo was looking over a postcard from his old friend Genma stating that Ranma was at last coming to visit. That was the same. What was different was:
