Michiru leaned back in her chair and took a sip of her tea as she his a slight smile. Haruka was
listening intently as her mother explained, in detail, the 'discussion' she had to 'convince' her husband
to consider talking to Haruka again. Fortunately, from what Michiru could tell, this Ryo person
wasn't a homophobe; just a stubborn, pig-headed, head-strong person who would admittedly
refuse to admit when he was wrong.
Like father like daughter.
Michiru hoped that the two would be able to bury the hatchet (preferably not in each other)
and reconcile. Ever since Hotaru was adopted by the two of them and Setsuna, they had
become the only family they had. Bound together in an extremely odd family unit, they all learned
to depend on each other to fill in the gaps in their lives. Michiru had lost her parents and younger
brother in a terrible accident at sea; something that to this day she was still reluctant to think
about. Haruka had never talked her family and Michiru never asked; but from what Michiru knew
about her lover and from what King implied, there were apparently harsh words that were said
in the heat of the moment between father and daughter…harsh and painful. As for Setsuna,
far as Michiru could tell the only family she had have been dead since the fall of the Silver Millenium.
But little Hotaru was a different story.
First, her mother dying in a lab explosion then her father being possessed during the same
explosion while Hotaru herself fell into a deep coma. When she awoke, he father began to groom her
to be the host for ancient evil. Although she would never wish what happened to Hotaru would happen
to anyone else, Michiru was happy that Hotaru had came into there lives.
But the look of absolute joy on Hotaru's face as she hung off of her 'King-Grandma' every word
made Michiru realize how much her daughter longs for a 'family'. Not only that, the excitement Hotaru
had when she found out that she also had a grand-father and a great grand-father was…well,
priceless.
As she tuned back into the discussion around her, Michiru decided right then and there the that
she would everything in her power to help Haruka and her father to reconcile.
"King-Grandma?" Hotaru asked hesitantly, "How come you decided to look for 'Papa now?"
"Well, I was hoping that Haruka would calm down and try to resolve things with Ryo
rationally…I really don't know what I was thinking…"
"MOM!!" Haruka protested, as Hotaru giggled.
"Anyway, by the time I came to my senses, I tried to find Haruka, but I had no idea where to
begin. Then, the other day, a 'Victoria's Secret' catalog came in the mail at the bar addressed to 'Haruka
Tendou'. I took a chance and asked your 'Auntie' Mary to look into it and she came up with this
address. And the rest is, as they say, history." King then looked at Haruka seriously and said,
"Now, about your father…"
"Mom, I don't want to talk to that…" Haruka paused and looked at Hotaru before continuing,
"person."
Michiru tuned out the rest of the conversation as she hid a slight frown with her tea cup. Now,
for anyone else the fact that Haruka's mother came practically out of nowhere to visit her and try to make
amends with her daughter just after Ami had disappeared to attend to a family matter would seem to
just be an odd happenstance.
But those people didn't live with Setsuna Meiou; Sailor Pluto and the Guardian of Time.
As she nodded absently to the 'conversation' going on between Mother and Daughter, Michiru
thought back to when she found out about Ami disappearance.
Flashback
"Where could they be?" Rei huffed in irritation.
"Knowing Ami, she's probably still trying to get Usagi to wake up." Makoto said, trying to placate
the fiery priestess.
"Yea," Minako aggressed, "You know that trying to wake up Usagi on the weekend is like trying
to bake the bread."
Michiru snuggled closer to her lover as the two of them watched the Inner Senshi argue among
themselves. While there was no real reason for the two of them to bring Hotaru to the Shrine for this
meeting, they decided to come because of two things. The first was it's been a while since the had all
gotten together and it was obvious that Hotaru missed the others. The other was that Haruka and Michiru were
board, and these meetings were a heck of a lot cheaper than the movies.
Before anyone could try to decipher what Minako was trying to say, the sound of someone
running up the wooden steps to the shrine proper was heard. Everyone turned to look as the door was slammed
open with a loud *BANG* to reveal a disheveled Usagi.
"What's wrong??" everyone asked as one as they saw there princesses red eyes and tear-streaked
face.
"WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!" Usagi cried out as she latched onto Rei.
"Hey, Meatball head! What's your problem?" Rei asked with a mix of concern and anger.
"Snif, snif It's…it's Ami…" the blond sobbed.
"What about Ami?" asked Makoto.
"She…snif she…"
"She what?"
"Sheranawayfromhometojoinanallgirlgangandshe'sswornabloodoathtohateallmenanddance
theMacarena!!! WWWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
"WHAT!!!"
Taking a shuddering breath, Usagi said "She ran away from home to join an all girl gang and she's
sworn a blood oath to hate all men and dance the Macarena!!! WWWWAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
The rest of the Senshi relaxed at Usagi's explanation for her outburst.
"I think that there is a breakdown in communication here." Haruka said dryly.
"Get a grip, meatball head! This is Ami were talking about here!" No need to say who said that.
"Yea. I mean, the Macarena is so old news." Minako said.
"I've gasp, gasp finally gasp caught cough you wheee." Luna said
as she dragged herself into the Shrine.
"Um…Luna?" Artemis asked carefully, "Where's Ami?"
The moon cat took a moment to catch her breath before replying. "When Ami didn't come by to
wake Usagi up, we went over to her place to see if she was alright. When we arrived, Ami's mom said
that a family situation came up and she had to leave late last night."
"…family situation…" Rei said quietly with a look of worry and
concern that she quickly banished before asking, "So there's no 'girl-gang'?"
"…No…" Luna said slowly as a sweat drop devloped.
"No blood oath?" asked Haruka.
"…No…" the sweat grew larger.
"No Macarena?" Minako asked with a slight hint of dissapointment.
"…I'm not even going to ask…" Luna said, resisting the urge to face-fault.
"What are you thinking, you meatball head!!"
"But…but…but… Mizuno-san looked so worried and sad and upset about Ami leaving! I know
she's wasn't telling me everything about what's going on with Ami!! And she didn't even say where
Ami was going!"
"If you're so worried, I can use my Mirror to check up on Ami." Michiru offered.
"That won't be necessary." A voice said from the door-way.
"Setsuna!" Usagi exclaimed, detaching herself from Rei and rushing over to the Senshi of Time.
"Why not? Where's Ami? Tell me the truth! She going a girl gang, didn't she!"
Setsuna's eyebrow twitched ever so slightly at the last comment before saying, "You don't need
to concern yourselves with Ami's whereabouts. You should be more concerned about how her absence
will effect the team."
"So…how long will Ami be gone?" Makoto asked.
"As long as she needs. Now if you will excuse me, I have things to take care of." Setsuna said
as she disappeared.
Everyone was quiet as they absorbed the reality of the new situation before Minako broke the
silence. "So…what are we going to do if there is a Youma attack without Ami around?"
"More importantly…what am I going about my homework!! WWWWAAAAHHHH!!"
End Flashback
From there, the meeting continued on more-or-less as normal, including the traditional 'Usagi
Steals Rei's Manga'. Since there was (hopefully) no looming threat that had to be dealt with, handling
any Youma attack should be no problem. Since Sailor Mercury was the 'weakest' Senshi attack-wise, it
shouldn't be a problem destroying any Youma as long as there wasn't 'problems' that had to be figured
out with the Mercury Computer they should be alright.
"Perhaps I should see what my Mirror has to show me about Ami." Michiru thought as
she turned her attention back to her family.
"So, Mom…about that 'Victoria's Secret' catalog you mentioned. You didn't happen to bring it
with you, did you? I mean, after all, it does have my name on it."
"Is there something you want to tell me, Haruka?"
"MOM!"
