Akane lay naked in the yard, shaded by the new dog house with her name painted on it. She felt rather comfortable and relaxed and determined to stay human. She vowed to make the effort to remain calm and obedient no matter what her idiot master did. She was going to be a good girl, she was, just like it said on her collar.
She didn’t mind the collar now that she’d settled down and gotten used to things. It felt entirely natural, even, as if she just wouldn’t be herself without it. There was nothing wrong with that, was there? She certainly wasn’t going to be a bitch about it. Not when being a bitch would make her a bitch.
‘I will not be angry,’ she told herself firmly. ‘Anger is the little death. Anger is the mind killer. I will not be angry! Good girl, Akane. Heel!’
“Yo, Akane, you ready to go see the wizard now or what?” Ranma demanded politely after a while. Relatively politely, anyway.
‘Walkies!’ Akane thought instead of getting mad and cried eagerly, “sure Ranma! Let’s go!” It was much better to do what ever he wanted, she thought, than to be barking mad.
Ranma tried not to look at the naked girl bounding before him. “Erk. Don’t ya wanna put some clothes on first?”
Akane considered the question seriously, then answered, “nope! Why bother? I’ve gone through three outfits already. Besides, it feels so good to be nude.”
“Akane, you really should get dressed if you’re going out,” Kasumi chided.
“Do I have to,” Akane whined and pouted before a stunned Ranma before giving in. “Oh, alright.”
“Don’t forget to keep the collar on,” Kasumi warned. “We wouldn’t want anything to happen to you if you turn back into a dog.”
“Of course,” Akane yipped as she fingered her collar and bounded into the house. “I kinda like it, anyway. Though there’s something missing.” She frowned thoughtfully as she skipped up the stairs. They’d have to stop by a pet store on the way, after all, she wouldn’t want to run afoul of the leash laws if she got ... bitchy.
Ranma stood in the yard, still as a statue except for his twitching eyebrow. “What the heck was that about?”
Akane skipped back down the stairs after a few minutes, wearing her gi and, from the look of it, nothing else. She’d considered various outfits, but they all seemed so restrictive. She’d really rather wear nothing but her collar. She told herself that anything else would rip when she changed, and told her frowning family the same. “I guess that’s why Mister Saotome wears his gi all the time,” she added brightly.
Genma grunted in agreement and tried not to ogle.
“Can we go now, Ranma? Can we? Huh? Can we?” Akane pleaded eagerly.
“Yeah, sure, Akane,” a confused Ranma agreed. “whatever. Let’s go.”
“Genma, old friend, this is bringing them closer together already!” Soun cried as Ranma left the house with Akane bouncing eagerly behind his heels.
Genma grunted in agreement then, as the front door closed her snapped to his senses again. “But what happens if Ranma finds a cure for them?” he demanded, “things will go back to the way they were. We have to stop that from happening, old friend.”
“And the idea to steal the cure for yourself never entered your thoughts, did it?” Nabiki asked sarcastically.
“Of course not!” Genma defended himself. “I would never think to ... ” ‘Wait! … do what now?’ “We must follow them at once!”
