Sometimes, a small change can produce incredible consequences.
In this new History, prince Endymion's secret romance with the young princess Serenity was discovered and exposed in the open relatively early. While the Moon Kingdom reacted rather badly to the news, it was nothing compared to the uproar it generated on Earth.
The majority of Earth's nobility valued their independence. While they were jealous of the Lunarians' superior magic and longevity, all of them agreed that submitting to the Moon Kingdom's matriarchy and 'purification' was too high a price to pay. Patriots, opportunists and concerned subjects alike denounced Endymion's conduct and demanded he broke up with princess Serenity.
The political and popular agitation became such as the King had to intervene. Endymion was confined to the Earth and all contact with Serenity or any Moon Kingdom native forbidden. An arranged marriage was quickly decided and organized.
And so, it came to pass that Endymion married the young duchess Beryl, leaving princess Serenity heartbroken but saving the Moon Kingdom from destruction at the hands of Metal'la.
While Serenity's love woes pained Setsuna, this was a timeline other than Crystal Tokyo she could live with. The Silver Millenium didn't come to an end. In fact, it was still ongoing! The guilt of having been powerless during the Fall grew lighter on her being.
But in the distant future, in the place where stars were born and died, Chaos, Sailor Moon/Cosmos' ultimate enemy still plotted her destruction.
It reached out and saved the one who had been at the heart of the paradox storm. It whispered in his mind and nurtured his hate towards the girls who had destroyed his life while he was doing the right thing. When he was ready, it sent him back to the past where the Moon Kingdom was insolently enduring past its fated demise.
Ranma Saotome was back and he wasn't happy.
