Setsuna's New Life: Vampire? Did you say vampire? [Episode 43320]

by Jamil Nate

Sailor Pluto screamed in pain and horror at the sight of the new History forming in the ambient space-time chaos. Then the Time Gates were destroyed in the temporal storm she had contributed to create in her fanatic drive to ensure Crystal Tokyo's coming. Her thoughts were on the utter wrongness of the outcome as the paradise known as the Silver Millenium was twisted into something far more darker.

She had watched Star Trek when it first aired in the sixties on american TV (Hey, she had lots of free time while waiting for the senshi to be reincarnated). She immediately thought back to the episode 'Mirror, mirror' just before losing consciousness because the situation was eerily similar.

The Moon Kingdom was not to be. In its place stood the Dark Moon Kingdom. The apparent immortality of its subjects was not caused by the Ginzuishou but by something else entirely: Undeath. Queen Serenity, the Senshi and her court were the elite of this evil mockery of what Setsuna remembered to be the true Moon Kingdom.

Vampires...

Queen Serenity ruled with an iron fist and the power granted to her by the Black Crystal. She maintained the vampire senshi under her control thanks to the blood bond she had with each of them. She was their sire, loyalty to her was part of their being. She had granted them the gift of vampiric immortality, selecting them amongst the most promising candidates from the human cattle raised on the Moon or kidnapped victims from Earth. A real Queen of the Damned...

When princess Serenity was born/created, it started a chain of events who would bring the Dark Moon Kingdom's downfall.

During her first hunt on Earth, she met the Earth Kingdom's prince and heir to the throne, Endymion. It was Love at First Sight for them, despite the fact that their kingdoms were enemies and that Endymion was already engaged to the young duchess Beryl. The two lovers would meet in secret whenever they could, uncaring of the consequences. As time passed, young Serenity contemplated turning Endymion into a vampire while Endymion was thinking about using the Light Crystal (the source of the power of the Earth royal family) to purify Serenity and turn her into a human.

Unbeknownst to them, both Queen Serenity and King Endymion had learned of their heirs' secret love affair. Disgusted at first by this unnatural relationship, both soon viewed this as an opportunity to finally get rid of their worst enemy.

Endymion had sneaked on the Moon like he had done so many times before only to fall into a trap. Queen Serenity planned to use him as an hostage to get her hands on the Light Crystal, the only thing standing between her and total domination of humanity. Earth responded by launching a crusading army to attack the Moon, King Endymion and his four generals at its head.

The battle was fierce as the two sides nearly annihilated each other. Prince Endymion escaped in the confusion only to see his father die at the claws of queen Serenity. Thinking that princess Serenity had never really loved him (helped into this conclusion by her mother's taunts) and betrayed him to conquer Earth, Endymion took the Light Crystal from his father's dead body and unleashed its power at the cost of his life.

The Dark Moon Kingdom fell that day. Queen Serenity was no more, only the vampire senshi had survived. They retreated into the deepest levels of the Dark Moon palace and went into torpor.

The Apollo missions on the Moon awakened them. It had taken Mercury and Mars a few decades but the vampire senshi had managed to teleport themselves to Earth. They were now in Japan and were starting to build their own little shadow empires. Since the Queen was dead and they hadn't been blood-bonded to princess Serenity, it was every vampire for herself.

Nothing seemed to stand in their way until the appearance of Tuxedo Kamen, a costumed vampire hunter who was also the late prince Endymion's reincarnation.

And there was also Ranma Saotome to deal with. In the new reality, he was...
