The green-haired teen, code-named "Norn", had powers related somehow to the control of the flow of time. She could see likely futures if she concentrated, usually accurate if vague. Other than that, she could sort of, step out of time for a short period. While out of time she couldn't affect anything or anybody else, but when she could move appearing to teleport in effect.
She could even take someone with her and hold their out of time condition for about a minute before she had to bring them back into real time. Since she couldn't really teleport, something somebody that hadn't gone with her understood, it was hard for people understand that she still had to be able to get somewhere normally and couldn't do things like open doors or pick up stones or anything but walk, run and look.
"Is it ever good news, Stick-Girl?" Inu-Yasha asked, snorting. His dog-like ears twitched as he yawned scratched at the back of his head.
Setsuna's eye twitched at the appelation.
Something about her powers seemed to retard her aging process slightly. She was about sixteen years old, but she seemed no more than fourteen. Belldandy knew that neither her, nor anybody she took with her, aged while outside of time, but that didn't explain why she looked so young.
The dog-like teen, who went by "Fenris" in his Aesir identity, was actually the initial link between the Xavier Institute and their own. It seemed that Sabretooth had spent some time in Japan and had fathered a son in Inu-Yasha. This was an oversight that Sabretooth had tried to correct.
Fortunately Logan and Misato had been on hand to save the youthful mutant. After a brief debate, it was decided that leaving Inu-Yasha in Japan would be better for him. Though Sabretooth still occasionally took time off from hunting Logan to "test" his own son.
"Sometimes it is," Minagi Hakubi said, shrugging. "Like when we had that Santa Day party."
Minagi was Katsuhito's granddaughter and possessed powers that were a mix of her parents'. She went by the code-name "Valkyrie" when she was in uniform. They had sent her to the Academy as a good place to keep her safe from their own enemies. In addition to her ability to control a nameless form of energy, even to the point of forming a "sword", she could fly.
She was also the youngest of them at fourteen and somewhat prone to naivete.
"The X-Men went public," Zelgadis Greywords, also known as "Heimdall," said. Everyone turned to look at the stone-skinned boy and arched an eyebrow. "Try watching the news."
Zelgadis's family had been vactioning in Japan when his mutation emerged, turning him into a stony...creature. They had shortly abandoned him in shock, not even recognizing him. He had wandered the streets alone until Keiichi's younger sister had found him one day. They had tried to find his parents, but it was as if they had disappeared off the face of the Earth...nobody knew where they vanished to.
"Can't we at least try to be positive?" Makoto Mizuhara, code-named "Baldur," asked, walking into the room to sit down.
He was the group's telepath and a somewhat shy and unassuming person. Still, there was something in him that was firm and unyielding at times. It was just that usually it didn't show.
"Hey! Get away from my sister, fla-" Skuld Wodendottir started to yell at Keiichi before she noticed the disappointed look from Belldandy. She bit the insult back and sat down, grumbling. Skuld didn't have a codename, since her name fit in just fine with the Norse theme.
Keiichi rolled his eyes at Skuld's behavior. An hour ago she'd been hanging on every word he said discussing some device he had built. But as soon as she saw him around Belldandy, out came the vitrol. Skuld had a decidedly inventive mind and was often a great help to Keiichi in the engineering department.
That wasn't her mutant power, however. Her mutant ability allowed her to create temporary solid matter out of thin air. This included heavy hammers and enough ink to brand "baka" or "pervert" on people's faces until it faded away. Keiichi was well-acquainted with the semi-permanent ink.
Belldandy cleared her throat and stood up, everybody took their seats.
"As you may have heard, if you watch the news," Belldandy started looking to the majority of the students moderately reproachfully. "Mutants are no longer a secret."
There was a moment of silence.
"In a battle engineered by Magneto," Belldandy said. "The X-Men were revealed to the world, fighting a giant robot in the streets of an American city. They are currently blamed for building the robot."
She paused and took a breath.
"Hysteria is close to overtaking America," Belldandy said. "And Professor Xavier is missing."
