"I won the bet then."
"Bet?..What bet?
"You don't remember?...I told you that you have a mother when when last met. You said your father told you you came from your him. We made a bet I told you you had a mother. You said you don't have one. The winner..." Tessa leaned in and whispered in Ranma's ear. Ranma eyes grew wide and he started scratching the back of his sheepishly.
"Oh, yeah...hehehe". *Sweatdrop* "Let's go Tessa-chan." Ranma turned and started walking in the direction of his mother's house.
Nodoka was pleased to see Ranma visit. Even more pleased to see him in the company of a pretty girl. She was definitely not Japanese, but her manners and speech was impeccable. In the course of tea and cakes, the following facts came out.
1) Ranma met Tessa in Okinawa after leaving Ukyo.
2) Tessa was the only childhood friend that Ranma knew was a girl.
3) Tessa was Ranma's tutor in grade school...and that teaching Ranma was a challenge. That was when Ranma boasted that Tessa was a genius. Nodoka smiled and commented that Ranma isn't precisely one for the books. That was when Tessa smiled and said that Ranma is in fact a genius himself. The trick is getting him interested enough to go through the studies.
4) Tessa was spending the summer and was thinking about spending a term with a high school to immerse herself in Japanese language and culture.
Nodoka thought to herself..here was a girl who was polite, well-mannered and above all NOT VIOLENT. Ranma was obviously at ease with Tessa, with none of the nervousness and sulleness he displayed when around his "fiancees". She wanted to spend more time with her son. She wanted her son to be as happy as he is right now. So...
"Ranma", Nodoka asked....
