Sailor Marionette R1/2: a Materia solution [Episode 44766]

by Kestral

Ami giggled in her sleep as her mother tucked her into bed.

That hunk with the robot Senshi was HERS ALL HERS BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Then, because even with her being asleep, because hers was a logical mind, the subconscious was putting things together.

He wasn't a young Einstein - her ideal.

He probably could not play chess.

He probably had some odious personal habits.

He was fairly crude and unsophisticated.

Of course, there were some pluses in the situation as well.

This would cinch an alliance between the two groups.

He was quite handsome and had that whole toned physique thing down.

He seemed to have a nice heart.

Ami didn't realize that the Ranma she'd met today had been quieter and more thoughtful than he had been, mainly as a result of the retroactive adventure that had gotten him the Sailor Marionette team (among others). He'd had to learn cooperation and group tactics, he'd had to learn responsibility and some purely non-martial arts skills.

Chamber, punch, kick, right turn, chamber, block, step.

Ranma went over his "troops" as they drilled in a kata in the yard of the Hino shrine.

In a way these were the perfect troops. Show 'em a move and they had it down. Adapting to new situations was a bit more difficult. Less a problem for the units with Maiden Circuits but they could still be thrown for a loop whenever they got hit with something completely unexpected. Some adapted quicker than others.

Each had their strengths and weaknesses. Each had a Maiden Circuit and some odd gemstones that had appeared during his trip across worlds, something that the Japoness scientists had discovered but not completely understood.

Take Ami2, aka Sailor Mercury2. She had Cherry's Battlesensors and three Materia "Ice", "Shiva", and "Sense". She tended to work best when the opponent was known, or was fairly obvious. She could also do that hacking and stuff, linking up with computers and things. She was best for things like going into New Texas and hacking their system, shutting down their mainframe and things like that.

Or Minako2/Sailor V2. A good all around unit who adapted to changing circumstances very quickly. Her Materia were "Choco/Mog", "Stealth", and "Steal".

Then came U-2 or Usagi2 or Sailor Moon Unit or Sailor Moon2, whichever she was calling herself lately. She had some gyroscope problems or something. Always falling over and landing on her butt. When things got serious though, she could link all the other marionettes together. In some ways she had the hardest time adapting to a new situation. Mars2 insisted that she needed a major overhaul in the synaptic system but as that would reset U2's personality and memories, nobody was quite sure what to do about that. What they usually did was smack her reset switch - located in the back of her head between the two odango. Her Materia were "Mystify", "Seal", "Restore", and "Alexander".

Next up was the sometimes cruel, sometimes cuddly, sometimes awfully reminiscent of Otaru's Bloodberry Sailor Mars2 or Rei II. Her Materia were "Phoenix", "Fire", and "Heal". She didn't adapt too quickly to a changing situation, often caught flat footed despite the high heels and had a bit of a temper.

Playing the number four slot was Ranma's favorite student in Anything Goes. Makoto2 or Sailor Jupiter2 (who was now talking about calling herself Sailor Zeus just to be different) and had the Materia of "Lightning", "Ramuh", and "Strength". She was the physically strongest, the best at Anything Goes style. She was enthusiastic, hardworking, a good cook, and a skilled fighter. Ranma was quite proud of her. His best student

The youngest looking was Saturn2 or Hotaru2. Her Materia were "Barrier", "Ultima", and "Bahamut Zero".

That brought them to the competitive but loyal Sailor Uranus2 or Haruka2. She could direct link with most vehicles given a download from Ami2 or some tinkering of her own. On her own, she was the fastest of the Marionette team - in a vehicle she could perform manuevers the engineers would swear was impossible. Her Materia were "Manipulate - Mecha", "Earth", and "Typhoon".

Then there was the elegant Sailor Neptune2 or Michiru2. She had a full programming of something called a "courtesan" that Ranma wasn't too sure about - other than it involved art and music. Apparently whatever it was frustrated her some nights after talking with him. Her Materia were "Leviathen", "Siren", and "Shield".

Finally of the Sailor set there was Setsuna2, aka Pluto2. She had the Materia of "Hades", "Time", and "Contain". She liked to appear mysterious.

Then there were a few of those robot maids and that marionette copy of Doctor Lorelei they'd made that kept doing goofy things around him.

Still, at times like this, it almost got so that he could feel good about the mess. He hadn't even had to use the Great Will in a long time (subjectively).

Sailor Pluto looked away from where she had been observing two Senshi (Venus and Jupiter) watching Ranma from concealment. Independently, of course, neither knew of the other's presence. Ah well, now she should turn her attention to:
