Imperial Heir: Doveryai, No Proveryai... [Episode 45065]

by Slackerchan

In the depths of the fortess, a lone rebel stood hidden inside the shadows... of a cardboard box. Damn it Otacon, he thought to himself, could you have not chosen a worse location? The depths of the jungle inside of the Cuban island were filled with hazards, only it had only been short of a miracle that he made it past the mines, attack dogs, dimwited hispanic soldiers with itchy trigger fingers, and other various wild threats. Any one else would have said it was a easy job for 'The Legend', but Snake did not think his line of work called for measures this extreme.

The guard passing by the cement wall, not distinguishing the lone box from the others. Snake quickly stood up and, placing his box in places he only knew of, he withdrew his pistol and began to stalk down the corridor. Suddenly, the room seemed to fill with light. DAMN! He flipped off the safety and prepared to twitch his index finger, but was seemingly blacked out by the overpowering white light.

Snake opened his eyes up once again, this time different from any other he had seen. It was not a corridor in some forsaken jungle. It was, rather a scene right out of a mystery novel he had once read. The room was reminiscent of a ballroom, the floor made of a seemingly marble-like stone, the ceiling adorned with a decoration not unlike a grand chandelier. In front of him, a man stood looking out a window into a dark sky. Two 'people' stood behind him, but any description otherwise would escaped him, as they were covered in skin tight suits, no unlike what he had worn on his missions of times past.

The man in front of him stood, revealing himself to the bewildered human. He skin was pail, almost matching the "So, you are the candidate. Welcome to my ship, the Imperator. I am Lord Constantus VI, and you must be..." He searched his memory for the name. "...Snake, Solid Snake. Or should I call you David? All the same, it is of no consequence. You are the most capable subject I have seen in quite a while."

"Wh-who-why do you want me?!" he screamed, preparing to fire at the man.

"Have you not figured it out already? Hmph, I thought this one would atleast know what was occuring. Very well then. As I have said, I am the Emperor of this sector. However, I will not be for long, as my life will soon culminate in darkness. Throughout my life, I have strided for a son to carry on my legacy, but the ones I have had promise doom upon us. That is why I have come to you. You can have things beyond what your wildest dreams can reveal to you. You would never have to risk your life again for a pitiful and pointless cause like you have for the enireity of your adulthood. All I ask is that you carry on my legacy and marry the Princess."

"And if I refuse?" he questioned, lowering his weapon slightly.

"Only those that are alive after saying no to me are the ones I allow to live. I do not want to remove a potential of your caliber, so I ask you to please that her hand and rule in my place."

"Give me one good reason..." Snake tested him.

The Emperor had been expecting a question, and had a quick answer to it. Gesturing to to his right, he spoke. "Simple. Take a look for yourself."

Snake still did not trust him, but he did not see any other option to take. Maybe he could jump out the window, he questioned himself. Dropping his hand, though still keeping the pistol ready, Snake slowly treked over to the window, only to be met by a amazing spectacle, of no other he had witnessed in his entire life. It was a starfield, more beautiful than he had ever seen on the clearest nights. What caught his attention and startled him though was the object off to the right of the window. It was his home, the Earth. He stood in awe, all of what had happened in the past several minutes filling his mind. He was definately not in a Cuban fortress, and, for that matter, he was definately not on his planet.

"All this could be yours... All that is needed is to say 'yes'." the elder man behind him spoke. "Think quickly, I do not have time to spare before my true son finds out about my abscence."

Snake turned to face the man, trying to make his decision quickly...
