Ranma struggled back to consciousness feeling as though he'd undergone the Drunk-Fu training again. It was the only thing that produced a hangover this bad. Assuming this was the case, he made a mental note to pound the idiot panda for the idea.
Finding himself in a crater and a half-barbecued Akane sticking feet-first out of a wall nixed that theory. So did the appearance of what was lying next to him.
It looked like an enormous, old-fashioned key. The "ring" at the bottom of the key was bisected with what looked like a handgrip. Attached to its bottom was a small keychain ring, with a red-and-black yin-yang symbol. It was made of a solid piece of blued steel...or maybe it was just the light it gave off, since the shaft appeared to be transparent crystal and filled with a pale blue fire not unlike the battle auras most of Nerima's martial artists could produce. The "teeth" of the key were steel as well, and surrounded by the same flames. They were curved, not unlike the claws of...one of those furry things. Still, it looked like an impressive artifact, designed almost like a sword.
As he recalled just HOW he'd wound up in the crater, Ranma decided NOT to help Akane out of the wall just yet. At least until he knew what was going on. He wondered if the key-thingie had anything to do with it. Actually, if Akane had found a way to do that much damage to him, his normal bias against weapons might have to go. Imagine what would happen if Kuno or Ryoga, actual martial arts, got a hold of the same thing. Brrr.
"A weapon might not be a bad idea," Ranma mused aloud.
"True," advised a voice he didn't know. Ranma turned to see a stranger with a unique sword. "The one who wields the Keyblade holds great power, for while the Heartless can be destroyed by magic, only the Keyblade Master can seal the Keyholes from which they come. Only that one can truly stop them."
"Heartless?" Ranma repeated. "Keyblade? Keyholes? What's going on? Who ARE you?"
(Author's Notes: I know I said I'd be quiet, but since nobody else decided to add to this over the last few days, I figured "why not?" Hope you enjoy. Also, before anyone points out that I've misspelled "barbecued," I'd like to point out that I'm Canadian---that is how we spell it. The options below are identified by source for the convenience of people who DON'T know the names---it happens---not because I'm trying to be insulting. And, incidentally, that fate split I wrote has a small error on the italics---again, sorry. Anyone know a way to fix it now that it's up?)
