"Sit down Cologne."
The old woman did so and Ranma began talking.
"I guess there are a couple of main reasons why I haven't chosen anyone to marry yet. It starts when I was eight. I used to hate the art, big surprise huh, because of Pops but over time and due to other masters of the art I started to love it.
"I love learning new techniques and revising them. I love expanding my limits. To go faster than I ever thought, to be stronger than I ever thought, and to just go beyond my limits that I thought I had."
A genuine smile broke out on Ranma's face and the old woman had to smile at that.
"I would love to test myself against the best the world has to offer but I can't. You can thank Pops for that. The love of the art. That is one of the main reasons I won't marry any of my current fiancees.
"Akane would say because it's her dojo I can't practice there anymore unless I train her. She would interrupt my classes and try and stop me from doing what I love. After the Super Soba and Battle Dogi incident I learned something about Akane.
"She despite her claims is not a martial artist. She felt that those two shortcuts that gave her super strength and the mastery of the art was hers by right. She didn't work at it. She felt she deserved those shortcuts. After that I realized she and I would not have a happy marriage given her distrust and fear of me."
Taking a deep breath Ranma continued.
"Now to Ukyo. She would want me to run the Ucchan's with her despite my dreams to go out and test and improve myself in the art. She thinks of me as a goal to achieve from 12 years ago.
"Now Kodachi is someone I don't even want to get involved with. She is insane and with her relatives I don't picture living within a year after the marriage to her.
"And finally we come to Shampoo. I can't picture myself living in the Amazon village as a second class citizen. Your council would probably put me to death since I would continue to practice what I love. Plus you have to admit the potions and the cures she lied about makes her untrustworthy. I know the Amazons don't like powerful men because they could turn to evil but what about powerful women who turn to evil. You have to admit that it's not just powerful men that turn to evil but women as well.
"When I meet a woman I can love and that loves me plus loves the art like I can then I will marry that woman."
Ranma finally finishes what he is saying and Cologne is shocked. Here is a man who truly loves the art and is a lot more than she ever gave him credit for.
"I see Ranma. I have a lot to think about so I will bid you good day."
Soon Cologne had vanished from sight.
