Though the pattern/form for the girl who had drowned in Jusenkyo was lost that didn't mean that the magic that comprised Ranma's former curse would just go away. No.
Instead that powerful transformative magic combed Ranma's aura for a trace of something else, some vague hint of a pattern other then Ranma's natural body that it could use to change Ranma.
Ranma didn't notice any of this, nor did he notice the ripple as his former curse was broken since he'd become so used to changing forms that he'd come to ignore it. Now all that occupied his attention were the three girls who had tried to have their way with him.
Within mere fractions of a second after Ranma lost his female side the magic had found a new pattern to lock onto and use....unfortunately the destabilization that had lost that first pattern had caused some damage to the 'curse' but that didn't stop it from changing Ranma into a....
