Final Fantasy Vash: Train Ride [Episode 48407]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

Vash blushed and tried to look innocent for a moment. "What? Me? Whatever did I do?"

"Don't act innocent!" The first Shinra MP said. "We know you are a member of the rebel group, AVALANCHE!"

"What? AVALANCHE? Don't know what you're talking about!" Vash tried to act innocent. "I'm just some innocent guy trying to buy some lovely flowers from a lovely lady."

Aeris blushed with that. "Vaaaaaaaaaaash..."

It was then the second Shinra MP spoke up. "Hey! I recognize that girl! Isn't she the one that's wanted by HQ?"

The first MP leaned forward. "Hey! I think you're right." Holding his gun he said, "Woman, do not resist. We want you to come along with us quietly."

Aeris blinked, unsure of what to do. "I don't know what you're talking about. I just-EEEEEEEK!"

Seeing as how the men had forgotten about him and were concentrating on the nice girl, Vash grabbed Aeris and began running through the rubble and crowded area. The first MP started to open fire. "HALT IN THE NAME OF SHINRA!"

Aeris was in disbelief the nice man she had met was holding her under one arm, the bouquet in the other, and running and dodging while he was being shot at! "T, this is incredible!"

Vash, who was running own a street past a fountain, and ognoring all the power-lines around said, "Eh, no more incredible than what I've been through.

Suddenly, Vash came skidding to a halt, scaring Aeris. There was a group of MPs blocking the end of the bridge Vash Had tried to cross. Vash turned around, but saw the original two MPs, and they had more MPs with them. Vash and Aeris were surrounded by the Shinra Soldiers.

Aeris looked up at Vash. "Vash, what are we going to do?"

Vash grimaced. What could they do? Itw as then that Vash saw something moving. A train. It was coming towards them and going underneath the bridge. Vash let himself smile. "Well, gentleman, it was nice knowing you, but we've got to get going now."

The soldiers blocking of either side of the bridge laughed. One MP stepped forward and said, "And where do you think you're going?"

Vash smiled and said, "I've got a train to catch!" And so, Vash jumped over the side of the bridge.

Aeris screamed in fear, but stopped as she realized Vash was on top of a moving train. "H, how? Vash?"

Vash smiled. He turned his head back and saw that the soldiers were left in the distance. "We're safe now."

"Yes. Thank you." Aeris said, smiling.

Smiling back, Vash asked, "Anything I can do for you little lady?"

Aeris thought about it for a moment. "Well... If it's all right... Could we go inside the train?"

Vash smiled and said, "Sure."

(------)

Meanwhile inside the cargo hold of that same train, We see Barret, Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie gathered about with suitcases. Wedge looked over at Barret and said, "Vash never came."

"Vash..." Biggs muttered. "Wonder if he was killed?"

"No way!!" Barret said. "There's no way chicken-boy could have bitten the dust. He was such a damn good shot."

Jessie nodded her head. She hoped Vash was okay. He had saved her, and it wouldn't feel right to her, knowing she was alive while he kicked the bucket. "Vash..."

Sighing loudly, Biggs asked, "Say, do you think Vash's... Going to fight to the end for AVALANCHE... If he's not dead now, that is."

"The hell would I know!?" Barret snapped, obviously worried about the gunman. "Do I look like a mind reader? Hmph! If ya all weren't a bunch of such damned screw-ups..."

"Hey, Barret!" Wedge called outt, trying to appease their leader with another topic. "What about our money?"

Steam now blowing out of his ears, Barret slammed his hand on a nearby crate, showing that he's pissed off. Wedge gulped and said, "Ah, nothin'... Sorry, boss."

It was then that the four AVALANCHE members recieved a shock as a side door of the cargo train-car opened with a kick, and in jumped the ever-loving Vash the Stampede, his face covered in soot from teh train's smoke-stack... And he had a nice girl in his arms.

"VASH! You made it!" Biggs cheered.

Jessie looked at the sight. It was Vash, but he had a girl dressed in pink with him. "Vash?"

"Vash! Wedge called out. Smirking he asked, "Who's the cutey?"

Vash chuckled a bit in embarassment. Putting Aeris downb on her feet, Vash scratched the back of his head with a free hand. "Eh heh... Sorry about that... Looks like I'm a little late, huh?"

"You damn right, you're late!" Barret yelled. "And then you come waltzin' in here, makin' a big scene and carryin' a woman no less!"

Vash chuckled nervously. "Sorry. I stopped to buy flowers from her, and then Shinra was after her too. I couldn't leave her there."

"Sorry if I'm causing any inconvenience." Aeris said.

Barret growled in disbelief at this. "Shit! Havin' everyone worried like that, and you come in with some woman you got in trouble too! You're unbeleivable!"

"Sorry about making everyone worry." Vash said in all honesty.

Barret grumbled but decided to let this drop. "Ah, forget about it... I'll just take it outta your money, hot stuff!" Making sure to adress everyone, Barret said, "All right, people! We're movin' out! Follow me!" Stopping as to look at Aeris, he actually spoke in a softer tone of voice. "You can get off at the next stop. Shouldn't be too much fo a hassle to get back to yoru sector."

"Thank you, sir." Aeris said. "I do hope I'm not causing a fuss."

Walking over to Vash, Wedge pat him on the shoulder. "Hey, Vash! You were great back there!"

"Yeah, Vash, you were awesome!" Biggs agreed "And I'm sure we'll do even better next time too!"

"I know we will!" Vash answered, grinning like the Cheshire cat.

Jessie, who had been working on her lap-top computer most of this time, finally shut it down. "Oh, Vash! Your face is pitch-black..."

Vash blinked. "It is?"

Aeris nodded her head. "Yes. But it looks cute like that."

"Here, let me get that." Taking a cloth out of her pocket, Jessie began wiping Vash's face until all the soot was gone. "There you go! And thank you again, for helping me back there at the Reactor!"

With Vash's face clean, AVALANCHE proceeded into the next car from the vargo car. Barret alone scared the majority of the people sitting in that car away. AVALANCHE sits all around that traincar for quite awhile, until the Conductor's voice is heard over the intercom. "Last train out of Sector 8 Station. Last stop is Sector 7, Train Graveyard. Expected time of arrival is 12:23AM, Midgar Standard Time...

Vash, however, had taken time to relax before the train pulled into the station. This felt good. He had played a major part in helping stop this Shinra group's advances on destroying the environmeny. Hopefully, he could stop them completely... Without anyone getting hurt, or worse, killed.
