Vash shook his head to clear the perverted thoughts. Okay, maybe it was. He should have knocked. It was his fault, of course part of him was not exactly wrought with guilt over the whole ordeal, after all he was male and it was hard to feel that guilty over seeing a beautiful young woman in her birthday suit. Still, despite what Deloris and that dried up old store owner said, it was in proper for him to have these feelings about his charge!
Vash steeled his resolve. He’d control himself! It was his duty as a teacher to show rogue the path and teach her his craft!
“Hey, Vash!”
Vash jumped away from Rogue with a shrill cry of surprise. “Don’t do that!” he exclaimed.
Rogue smiled and shook her head. “Some infamous gunmen... what did the harmless little girl scare you?”
Vash laughed. “I was just lost in thought and you suppressed me. That’s all.”
“That’s why they all say,” Rogue did a little twirl and looked up to her teacher. “So, how do I look?”
Vash blinked and gave her a long once over. He was awed, this was not the same filthy rag clad girl that he’d rescued before. This was a strong, confident, and attractive you woman. “You look good. No, you look better then good. You look great!”
Rogue smiled widely, fighting down a blush. “You really think so?”
Vash nodded. “Yep, now come on. I have a spot all ready to start training. Ever shot a gun before?”
“Yes,” Rogue replied. “Before I had to run away from home I was a pretty good shot with papa’s shotgun, and a few times sense I managed to get my hands on a pistol. I got pretty good at pegging rats and lizards for dinner.” “That’s good.” Replied Vash, thinking to himself. “It’ll make this easier. You probably already know the basics so we just might be able to skip ahead a bit.”
Rogue smiled proud of her minimal firearms experience.. “Really?”
Vash nodded. “Really. When I’m done you be the breast… er… I mean best girl gunslinger around!”
Rogue glared at him over the slip. In a sardonic tone she said, “Well teach, lead the way...”
-----------------
Rogue felt like hell... she could not remember the last time she had been driven this hard. Vash the Stampede was a nice guy to know, but as a teacher he was a well mannered, but merciless task master.
She’d been training for over three hours before he even let her fire a bullet, teaching her how to stand, how to draw, how to aim, even how hold the gun.
Finally he’d let her fire the damn thing. First at bottles, which had actually been pretty fun. She was good at it too, almost every shot was a hit. She’d felt proud of herself. Then he brought out the targets.
The targets were not what she’d call normal. Normal targets had the bulls eyes in the head and chest. Vash’s targets has then on the hands, the arms, the legs, and guns. Places that were both places you’d shoot to disable and almost impossible to hit. She asked him if she could shoot normal, but he said no. Didn’t want her to get in the habit of shooting to kill...
Now another two hours later her arm was killing her, while her aim had improved dramatically, she still felt like an ass because of all her misses, and she wanted to rip that sweet all knowing smile RIGHT off Vash’s face...
“You did really well, Rogue. You’re a fast learner.” Vash told her.
“I hate you,” she replied.
Vash looked down at her and frowned. “I never said it would be easy. You just have to keep trying. You’ll get there eventually.”
Rogue sighed. He was right... but she better not let him know that. “My arm is killing me...”
Vash grinned. “Well, we’ll let it rest for a while, okay?”
Rogue blinked and looked up. “Really?”
Vash nodded. “Yep!”
Rogue sighed in relief. “I’m hungry...”
Vash looked in his pocket. “Well, we still have 20 caps left. We don’t have to hunt for our dinners yet.” Vash outstretched his hand, which Rogue quickly too, using it to pull herself to her feet. “Thanks...”
“Well, lets get you some food and some sleep... then you’ll be ready for tomarrow.”
“What are we doing tomorrow?”
“Same thing we did today, and we’ll keep doing it till you get it right!” exclaimed Vash.
“What then?” asked Rogue, almost afraid of his answer.
“Then, it gets even harder!”
“AH, MAN!”
