"That's a warning light for the entry to the maze," the chief technician said weakly.
"Shit," Jill snapped. "Leon!"
"We're on it," the cop said exiting the control room and following the signs to the air lock.
"I'd really suggest you'd all just cease fighting and let us kill you quickly," the Queen's calm, Japanese voice spoke over the intercoms.
"I thought those didn't work!" Nabiki snapped. "What do you guys have them buried in a back door somewhere?"
"If you continue to resist," the Queen continued. "We shall pleasantly make your end as long and painful as possible. Akuma has already found the exit, Kage is seeking the King of Hell and will soon determine the secrets of your maze...and Mamano is seeking your annoying little pets right now. Pennaggolan, Hannya and Dokufu stand ready to my commands. Your efforts are hopeless. Resistance is pitiful. Choose now between a quick death and a long one, that is all."
"Okay," Jill said, pointing to William. "You understand Japanese, what is going on?"
"What is she talking about?" Nabiki asked, as she cycled through cameras to look at the airlock entry to the maze.
"The six oni," the man whined. "Akuma is a beast, strong, almost like a tyrant, if it has found the airlocks, it will be through in minutes. Kage we have not seen much of, it is shadowy and we think it is destroying most of the cameras. Mamono is a hideous, skinless creature of bone and muscle, with one eye and a giant spider-like maw in the abdomen and a pair of arms that end in serrated bone blades rather than hands. Pennagolan...it...it is a head dragging about a trail of entrails, slithering like a snake along the ground. Hannya is a hideous snake-like creature with a long bloated body, no legs, two spindly, jointless arms and huge mouth. We think dokufu was a licker to start with. It commands the spiders that have mutated. That about covers it."
"We got trouble here," Leon said over the radio.
"How big?" Jill asked.
"It looks like the Hulk on steroids," Leon said. There was a muted rending sound over the radio. "With claws. I'd say we got about ten minutes before it gets to the second door. The airlock has six of these doors, so, maybe an hour before it gets to us, maybe."
"Damn it," Jill said. "All right, damn. Nabiki is there anything we can put in front of it to slow it down?"
"Looking," Nabiki said. "Looks like most countermeasures are fried, somebody cut the power without proper precautions."
Several glares among the Umbrella staff were directed at a particular person, one Mr. Cotton.
"Got something!" Nabiki said. "Tell them to get out of that room, I'm sealing it off."
"Done," Jill said. After a few moments she looked up. "They're clear."
"I'm shutting it down," Nabiki said.
A push of a button later and another series of iron walls rolled together to close off the route from the maze to the rest of the complex.
"Will this trap our lost ones within?" Cologne asked pointedly. Nabiki shook her head.
"I've got it covered," she said.
"I think we're going to need our insurance," Leon said as he came back in the room.
"What is that?" Genma asked.
"There's a nuclear reactor powering this site," Jill said. "We're going to turn it into a bomb. It'll fuse everything within two miles into a solid lump of rock."
"Wise decision," Cologne agreed. "But do allow time for our friends and ourselves to escape."
"That's what I hope to do," Jill said. "I think your friends are our mission objective."
"Found the intercoms!" Nabiki declared triumphantly. "Now I just have to find the one for Akane and everybody."
